Just picked mine up at Bestbuy. They had about a stack of 30 or so waiting to be picked up. The girl behind the counter said they had a heck of lot more in their stock room. Cases, not so much. I grabbed one of the final 2 they had.

I thought a lot of the first day impression videos that were uploaded to Youtube yesterday were exaggerating the painful initial setup, but they weren't lying. With the Steam Deck you'll spend about 5 mins doing an update and reboot before you are installing games. If you treat the Ally like a new gaming PC (Which you should), you are going to set up Windows, install a ton of Windows updates, install the Asus bios update, and an Armory Crate update. Add in about 4-5 reboots and you are looking at 25 mins before you even start installing games. I know a week from now I won't really care about that lost 25 mins.

*Pro Tip* When you first turn on the device Windows will ask you to sign into your wifi. You have to press one of the backside buttons plus Up on the D pad to get the onscreen keyboard.

Besides the offset thumbsticks which are ergonomically better on the Steam Deck, and the loose feeling thumbsticks, the Ally's hardware (Weight, Speakers, Screen, Fans) feels like a definite upgrade over the Steam Deck.

I'm so glad this came early because this got 50-11 updates and that's before touching Windows Update :damn:
Breh, you ain't lying.

I have no point of reference with a Steam deck because I've never even held one. However, just based on my portable device history though? This mufukka cold as ice brehs. No lie.

Mine just arrived too. I can't set it up until later. I shoulda ordered the charging dock too, but I was waiting on a better one. It's sold out everywhere now. I still don't like the design of the official charger dock, but it would still be nice to have.

Ok so yea I wont lie. The initial setup with all the updates and shyt is ROUGH. Damn near spent a hour setting everything up before I even downloaded a launcher. I'll also probably will have to do this all over again when I upgrade my SSD.

But once u are actually in game this shyt is :wow: First game I tried was Miles Morales. Was going between 45 and 60fps on turbo.

I can already tell it's gonna take me a while to really set this up the way I want it. I'm also very impressed with docked mode. Feels like a legit desktop pc. I honestly might do some video editing this way.

TYRONE GA!
Y'all gotta be fukkin kidding me.. Y'all dead ass buying $700 game boys out here :hhh: can this be screen shared to play on a monitor or tv? I'm confused as to why there's a real market for such niche products. I would imagine anybody that would want this already has a great PC, and if you do then...? I'm looking to get into PC master race proper and this doesn't seem to be the way

you can feel the disgust in this post

:laff:

Once they finally have the XG 4090 eGPU available again, I’m copping. It’s been sold out forever. I want to see what this thing can do with that added power.

I’m installing emus on this tomorrow. I have a feeling it’ll run up to ps3 flawlessly. It appears to be better with that stuff than the Steam Deck from videos I’ve watched.

I ultimately want to just hook this up to my tv and use it as a pc with the extra gpu dock. Then I can take it mobile whenever, but the form factor is so small, even with the eGPU dock that it’s perfect to set on my tv console connected to my TV via hdmi. And I can easily take everything with me for portable high-ish end pc gaming in any room or at a hotel.
