Why are they using the “he was only a retainer” argument? These dudes know nothing about samurai. Mitsuhide Akechi, one of Oda’s most loyal men, and the man infamous for betraying and killing him, was one of his retainers. Yet no one would debate Mitsuhide was a samurai. Moreover, even Hideyoshi Toyotomi, the future shogun and one of the three great uniters, was also a retainer of Oda. Essentially, being a retainer is high rank and definitely qualifies under the prerequisites of the definition of samurai. They’re just too ignorant and racist to know otherwise.

I hear where you’re coming from, I’m against token characters or making non-black character's black, however Yasuke was real and it seems like he was a real samurai.
Me personally I don’t buy games/media because the character is the same race as me. What makes me interested in the game is the setting and the graphics. Hopefully this game isn’t 50+ hours long, and the style of game is like old AC(1-4).

This is flawed logic here. The character Yasuke isn't a race swap and isn't presented as "Japanese black man!"
It's an actual character. If a Japanese man went to South Africa and within a few years became a Zulu warrior and had a similar story it would be seen as intriguing and fascinating.
There was an AC set in historic Africa: AC Origins. I know they sort of played with the main character and made him look more ambiguous but the NPCs and other major characters were undeniably indigenous "black" Africans such as his own son Khemu:

and various other NPCs and supporting characters. Even if an AC game was created and set in Kanem-Bornu you'd STILL have this rhetoric being spewed about shyt being woke. I'm with you on race swapping but this isn't it. Cacs use this "original character" talking point and then still say "We wuzz KANGZ N SHIEEEEEET!!"

Anyway, I heard this was a single player live service game. That's hilarious.
They all are at this point, or at least they should be. That’s why they are adding rougelike modes to stuff like god of war. Gotta keep people coming back to make the investment worth it.
The concept here is actually kinda cool. It works like forza horizon, where the “seasons” change every couple weeks/months so the map, challenges, enemies etc change and it makes the game stay more “fresh” for longer. Winter time infiltration of a castle will play out much different than it did in the summer.
People heard “seasons” and grabbed their pitch forks. But what they are talking about here sounds really good imo.
