You can't tell me this Houston dikkrider was bubbling in his hood (Harlem) or city (NY)

Dude came out of nowhere and got put on Drake's tour in less than 6 months of dropping his first unofficial record

Questionable YouTube buzz -> Hot 97 airplay out of nowhere as an unsigned rapper with one song out -> white publications (Pitchfork, Complex) jumping on the dikk -> Major label deal with RCA/Sony

Read up on his history: ASAP Rocky - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

or maybe fans are just quick to crown new "stars" now :mjpls:

Very suspect indeed. I first heard of him from an interview where he said he got like 2-4 mil for a deal. He later went back and cleaned that statement up. It was supposedly spear headed by some hot song/mixtape that was bubbling that I never heard of. The next thing I know he's everywhere. It just never came off as an authentic buzz from a hot song or mixtape so I'm suspicious.

im not up on kirko bangz. not sure if joey bada$$ can be considered a plant but he has strong ties.

everybody else is definitely a plant. and thats why the game is so messed up. these labels think they can manufacture rappers.

and notice some of the names you left off the list. for instance meek millz, who came out and blew past all these dudes.

All they got to do is get an artist with some material, send their pr team to work the blogs that labels own and pay the other ones they don't for press and audio placement. Next thing you know the listeners start talking about them and promoting them at forums and the rest is history. People who deny plants just don't want to believe that they are being controlled. They think they are making their own musically choice, which they are, but the pool of artist to choose from is what's controlled. So even though you say you a fan of ASAP it's only because they put him in a place where you could listen to him. His buzz or talent didn't, the labels power and influence over the media did.

Btw that pic of ASAP from that video makes him look like a bytch. I wouldn't be surprised if he is gay. :wrist:

Dude just happens to "connect" with Large Professor :childplease:

Get a verse on one of the most highly regarded rap albums of all time. Then gets top producers for his debut, at 21. fukk outta here, industry plant.

It's possible being from Queensbridge but the producers for illmatic and the praise for the album seem very suspect. I know his dad was in the game I don't know if that plays a role but I think it's something deeper.

That's a new trend though labels be signing rappers off one the internet buzz of one or two videos, it's a problem. Hey may be a plant but I'm just saying this is going on a lot lately: Joey Badass...few others. Chief Keef...

I don't fukk with this nikka but why would the industry plant an artist at that blsck artist who would give them little to no profit at all. The whole definition of industry plant never made sense.

man stop, he made a song and it caught fire

I posted the song Purple Swag on SOHH when the youtube video had about 700-800 views, which grew into 8k, to 100k, and so on. you can read the thread right here. I basically had to spam the shyt with triple posts to even get people to click the thread.

This song Purple Swag goes hard as fu*k - ProjectCOVO.com Global Forum

that's the song that put him on peoples radars and he capitalized on it by dropping a great mixtape. Now he's where he is now. Simple as that. I was pretty much the first SOHH dude to post his music, so does that mean I'm some secret industry jew who has ties with him or something?

:birdman:

and I don't even like ASAP like that, I just thought the song was tight :manny:

The growth looks questionable. You basically saying all you need is one dope video & a mixtape.......and you on. How many cats BEEN doing that & still can't catch a break? Its greater forces behind that shyt.

That's all wiz needed to gain a fanbase and label support a dope mixtape and single.

Odd Future = most obvious industry plant of all time

They were managed by a former Interscope exec with close ties to Eminem :childplease:

nah I can't co-sign that

I used to post on this one forum that Tyler posted on...I remember having early versions of "b*stard" and "radical" stuff being like "these dudes are talented but there's no way they ever get a look they're super fukkig weird"

you can't tell me the industry correctly predicted that odd future was what was gonna be poppin because they're so out there

I watched that come up for years via my comp screen

shyt was organic
