God you people are stupid. This article is from 2011. Odd Future has been around WAY longer than that. Tyler was a regular poster just like us on the Hypebeast forums in like 2007 talking about this album b*stard that he was working on and would post his music. I think you can still find some of his old posts.
Last year I also stumbled upon his old blog from like 2007/2008 when he was like 16 in High School and would post his photography, talk all the projects he was working on and his dream for Odd Future and projects he wanted to do in the future and how b*stard was coming along and mostly just rant about life in general. He was just a regular kid that loved to make music and had big dreams. Here are some random posts (you have to highlight the page to read the text because the font is white).

Read through some of the blog entries. OF is the real deal, he's been working on this stuff for a long time and he started it all by himself.
This is what happens, you are interesting, you start to build a small following, you get noticed and people in high places see you have potential. You get managers and deals and people help you promote your work in hopes that they will get a return on their investment. This is basic industry stuff that has been going on forever, no conspiracy about it. Industry plant?
i'm still trying to find out who that white girl with the grills is from the purple swag video
He talked about her in an interview, said her name, I think only her first name. I'll have to find it.
Where did you find the girl in the “Purple Swag” video?
She was a friend of ours. Her name’s Anna. Anna Eckert. And she’s just trill as fukk. That is who she is, she does use the n-word—she says “n—-a” all the time—that’s our homie. She smokes weed on the regular. She chills, she’s funny as fukk. She breeds pit bulls. This bytch is trill! She didn’t grow up in fukkin’ New York, but she lived in Harlem most of her teen life on her own, college life on her own. Shout-outs to Anna. I got nothing but love for that girl.
or kreayshawn being nominated over a song off a mixtape
I was agreeing with you.
Tall Israeli was saying that their manager worked for Interscope and that shows that they were a plant because they had connections to the industry, that they hid that connection and portrayed themselves as doing everything by themselves.
I was pointing out that they weren't hiding Clancy's involvement, that they shouted him out in songs, that he was getting interviews discussing his role.
In this thread I talked about hearing Tyler spit on a Casey Veggies song that came out in 08. I know they've been around for a long time, even when OF was just Tyler, Deshay and Casey.
I've posted in other threads discussing this talking about their old posts, linking their old comedy videos from like 08 that are clearly in the same vein as Loiter Squad.
People point to their big interviews, appearances on Fallon and say that's evidence of being a plant and I said that was just their management and PR team doing their job. Look at the post a few above my original calling the theory that Joey Bada$$ was a industry plant because management saw him on WSHH and signed him was bullshyt.
Yea I realized that later, my bad. Should have been responding to the other dude. I agree with all you've said. It seems people think if you've had any form or marketing or help then youre a plant.
Yeah I seriously do believe what I am typing. Obviously these guys have SOMETHING, that is getting them noticed or placed in a position or "planted" by these labels, right? You don't like them as an artist or don't think they are talented but they are obviously doing SOMETHING that draws an audience and the attention of the labels whether you like it or not...
Or are labels just closing their eyes and typing in random youtube searches like a lottery and picking the first choice to sign and push?
Honestly, this shyt doesn't bother me one bit. If I like the music, I listen, if I dont, I move on. This is definitely something that a unsigned rapper could be heated about though..
"Im just not hip hop"... I really don't give a fukk about "being hip hop" or not... What does that even mean in relation to this?
