Im still failing to see what's so bad about being an industry plant.

Looks like he's blowing up easy, and that's a bad thing?

anybody that tries to deny this is an idiot.

asap rocky himself didnt even try to hide the fact that hes an industry plant. dude is on record saying that dudes in new york thought the asap crew was gay.

I think that going by some definitions a lo of rappers will be "industry plants"...young dude has some talent/swag/whatever, gets noticed by "the industry", which sets out a plan to bring them up. Sounds like what a manager would do?

Every rapper that's come out in the past 4-5 years are apparently plants.

I've heard:

Drake
Cole
ASAP
Odd Future
2 Chainz
Kendrick
Wiz
Mac Miller
Joey Bada$$
Kirko Bangz
KRIT

im not up on kirko bangz. not sure if joey bada$$ can be considered a plant but he has strong ties.

everybody else is definitely a plant. and thats why the game is so messed up. these labels think they can manufacture rappers.

and notice some of the names you left off the list. for instance meek millz, who came out and blew past all these dudes.

odd future are not industry plants, they been rapping for years. they met their manager in 2010 who happened to work with interscope years ago. he was interested in what they do so he hanged out with them and had a cool connection and became part of the team.

the-coli's definition of an industry plant = artists that you don't listen to who are still popular

they can't just be artists who have a strong following despite the fact that neither you nor your "hood" (your three homies) don't listen to them. nah, it's gotta be the fact that they're "industry plants"

its just a way to discredit artists who have some kind of popularity nowadays.

They are still holding on the old model of getting discovered in the rap game. That doesn't work anymore in the 24/7 news cycle

DJs don't break artists anymore
Radio stations rarely play local artists.

So expecting these artists to follow the local buzz - radio hit - get a deal - route is not reasonable

you are the type of person that these labels target.

smarten up instead of trying to play somebody.

odd future is the most obvious example of an industry plantation.

everybody has been rapping for years. everybody has a manager by the time they get on. thats neither here nor there.
