never heard Cordae played on repeat anywhere. he's recognized not forced

there's no longer artist development and rappers learn on the job. Cordae has the same rough things about him Cole did. Cole took a long ass time to make decent albums. Like Cordae he can kill features and verses but had to develop better bodies of work. these dudes don't lack a story they just don't have a contrived one that appeals to the values people have come to look for in rap... how real you are, went thru a struggle, feared/respected where you come from etc etc.

if you wanna be discounted and hated in rap the worst thing you can be is a regular ass person.

There's like this new breed of MC that are dope lyrically, but I can't get into their music and it seems the reason is, is because they have no backstory/background that's interesting. A bunch of nice raps with nothing behind it.

When you don't come from the streets, theres no real "stake" in the shyt you're trying to say unless you do what Kanye and Drake did and just make "average life" sound compelling by tackling the ordinary in new ways.

I have to listen to his mixtapes, his album was really solid and he's definitely one of the brightest rappers out.

He also doesn't have the charisma of YBN Nahmir. But I'm sure he'll grow.

Cordae is a rapper that’s solid at what he does but for the rappity rap lane he’s in, he’s very basic, nothing he says leaves an impression or gives you the mean face. He’s just rapping to be rapping. He’s not a conscious rapper, he’s a rapper that’s trying to be conscious when he doesn’t have all the knowledge and life experiences to pull it off.

Cole had plenty of trash bars when he was first coming up and struggled at making albums at the beginning but naturally Cole had that hunger, drive & passion where you can see the potential early. He also had real life topics that he lived/experienced.

Cole knows how it feels to be broke, in debt, & struggling in college while being in tuned with what’s going on back at home (Fayetteville, NC).

I don’t know too much about Cordae’s background and this ain’t a knock on him but I doubt he’s experienced half the shyt Cole has so you can’t even compare the 2.

What Drake has done is burbs shyt while feeding the masses with what they care about most. Luxury, hoes, fukking hoes, getting hoes, relationships, how hard they are, and doing a non hard drug or drinking to get your mind off the stress.

Most burb rappers are too focus on skill, talent, and passion but this ain't sports. Hip hop is about a connection.
