As Far As Spoilers In Movie Threads....

Is spoiler tags opening weekend (and/or 3 days) a good idea?

Watch the trailer/read the synopsis and decide if you wanna watch or not. Reading page after page of opinions?

Who's do you choose to listen to when brehs are going back and forth?

Do you count how many yays vs nays?

At some point in the dialogue...even if no plot spoilers are given, your entire experience will now be something totally different than was intended because you were too concerned with the next man's experience.

Most of the people been here since 2012 and some have been around since SOHH.

So people have individuals they go because a decent amount of time their opinions align. Some for horror, comedy, drama, some TV shows, whatever. That's who they listen to.

No, it don't 100% mean they will/won't like or even watch whatever it is...but this ain't some kinda new shyt. It's been going on since the site opened. And like I said, generally speaking people spoiler tag things the first few days, anyway. But lately people been coming from other sub-forums where the Mods let people run wild, so they're not accustomed to there being rules.

Yea, its not always going to align, so why let someone talk you outta something you thought was interesting.

Or if you have a go-to, check for that person's post.

Reading pages though is asking for trouble spoiler wise and also robbing you of a fresh movie experience.

I already said it won't necessarily sway them either way. People come here to gauge the over all opinion.

And it's not necessarily one person. Most of The Film Room is fairly knowledgeable when it comes to TV shows and movies.

Like I said this has worked for years, up until recently. So, no offense but questions you're asking are a moot point. People aren't going to stop asking for opinions or reading through movie threads to get feedback. That's never going to happen. That's not even what the thread is about.

Cool

If it's release day and after I say it's fair game to post spoilers.

This.

I voted yes most of the people in this side of the forum watch these big type of movies within those first three days.

A second thread just for spoilers would be cool too for the big movies that spark a lot of discussions.

I think 3 days is too short even. Even as someone who tries to see every movie at the earliest opportunity I still understand that not everyone does that, or is in the opportunity to do so.

What you're basically saying is 'See this movie in the first weekend or stay out of here until you do!'

How does that make sense when most people will check a thread to get opinions on the movie, you know, to see if it is worth checking out.

I said it in the Us thread and I will say it again, the spoiler function takes two goddamn clicks! Two! If you can't learn that shyt you need to get your ass off the internet. It's not that difficult.

True.

So how do you arrive at a day?

Any day you choose after the release day will be somewhat arbitrary and biased towards certain ppl's preference on what they think enough time is.

What if someone wants to wait til blu ray release to watch it...or when it drops on netflix?

Is one to be given the same spoiler free courtesy?

Or is it "too bad, you should've seen it in theaters with the rest of us."?

Rule got voted in by a land slide so it'll go into affect starting tomorrow.

Like I said, some leeway will be given since this is a new rule. And obviously it's up to you guys to Report any open spoilers. The Mods can't be in every thread 24/7.

So it's 3 days, meaning until Monday, correct? I don't even post spoilers like that but I'd rather be sure.

Yeah if it comes out on Friday (or, Thursday if it's a premiere like "Endgame") then Monday would be the earliest you can post open spoilers.

But some movies come out on weird days (not towards the weekend like most releases) so for those it'll be 3 days.

But like I said, this will take some getting used to so people won't be banned if they mess up a couple times. Unless it's obviously intentional, of course.
