As Far As Spoilers In Movie Threads....

Is spoiler tags opening weekend (and/or 3 days) a good idea?

3 Days is perfect and provides a fair degree of balance. :NoSmokeP:

Spoiler tags until Monday morning.

People really think it's cool to see a Thursday midnight showing and talk about all plot details before normal humans have a chance to see it :dwillhuh:

Yeah this is why I said 3 days/Monday. I went and seen "Infinity War" at the first showing on Thursday and gave a spoiler free review in the thread the next morning.

You're right, i was speaking mostly in regards to comicbook movies. Most of the media i like has pre-established lore.:manny:
I just feel like real authors are better at writing stories than some staffed screenwriter working for Fox on a salary.
JRR Tolkien , Stan Lee, JK Rowlings >>>>> Steve in the scifi department at Universal.
Look at what comic book movies have done to people :scust:

Day of release.

If you're scared, stay out. That's what I do, and I'm as spoiler averse as anyone on here lol. I don't even like trailers. I've been muting commercial breaks for a month now because of endgame ads

I think 3 days is too short even. Even as someone who tries to see every movie at the earliest opportunity I still understand that not everyone does that, or is in the opportunity to do so.

What you're basically saying is 'See this movie in the first weekend or stay out of here until you do!'

How does that make sense when most people will check a thread to get opinions on the movie, you know, to see if it is worth checking out.

I said it in the Us thread and I will say it again, the spoiler function takes two goddamn clicks! Two! If you can't learn that shyt you need to get your ass off the internet. It's not that difficult.

I don't think it's been bad. Then again, I don't lurk movie threads when they're still in theater. :ld:

What about the scroll down...

technique? I know cats do this instead of using the spoiler tag.

If you're against spoiler tags my question would then be: Can a person not have a dialogue at all before watching a movie then? :usure:
This idea that spoilers aren't a big deal to begin with, or that a person should essentially disconnect from the internet until they've seen a movie is ridiculous.
This is a message board. No one is stopping anyone from making threads. What's the problem with making a "spoiler free" thread and a "spoiler" thread? :dwillhuh:
Some people want to just share theories or discuss general info until they actually get around to watching the movie.
I've never understood the thirst to rush to see something just to come back and yell "FIRST!" like an excited child and ruin it for other people and acting arrogant about it afterwards. :upsetfavre:
That's why I'm all for the spoiler and spoiler free threads. I think once the movie drops just start a brand new thread with Spoilers inside in the title. My main problem with having to use spoilers is it becomes a pain following the thread when every post and every post quoting another post have spoilers so you're stuck clicking every post to expand them. Especially for big threads with a lot of replies. I prefer being able to just scroll down and easily follow along.

This forum spoiled Shutter Island for me so there was really no point to watch it

Spoiler tags are needed

Exactly.
This is a self-control issue.

I don't even watch trailers for movies unless I'm in the show for another film. I seriously could not believe people were crying about spoiler tags in a discussion for a movie that had been out for days (with US). The Coli has spoiled a few shows for me, so I've learned my lesson over the years. Simply stay away/out of a thread until you've seen said content.

This makes sense for TV shows more than movies IMO, when a movie drops, it's up to you to see it to avoid being spoiled. I purposely saw US soon because social media alone would have spoiled it for me with the inevitable discussion and memes about it that were bound to be posted.

if spoilers is a problem for a majority of posters then i think opening weekend is fair. i typically stay out of threads for movies i wanna watch and haven't seen but i can see why some ppl go in there. i see quality posters dropping reviews in the official movie thread so maybe they are curious to read their opinion before deciding if they wanna watch it or not.

it's not hard to add a spoiler tag so i'm whatever about this.
