And/or "WHY ARE YOU IN THERE IF YOU AIN'T SEEN THE MOVIE?!"....

People who don't fukk with critics and/or Rotten Tomatoes come here to ask about movies. Get an opinion from people whose tastes align with their own.

Now, as far as spoiler tags in these threads....this ain't some new shyt. Generally speaking, people use spoiler tags 99.99% of the time for the first few days of a new movie. Out of courtesy. If you don't usually post in this sub-forum, that's how it's been basically since day 1.

So from now on, no open spoilers the opening weekend a movie comes out.

I think 2-3 days (if it drops Friday, you can post spoilers Monday) is fair. I'll add a poll.

If this is voted in, there will be some leeway given as people adjust to the new rule....but at the same time posting spoilers is one of the fastest ways to get banned from the entire site. So tread lightly.

Ok the thread is open for voting. I wanted to let the idea marinate a bit before people weighed in.

Voted No, people are too sensitive about spoilers. Has very little effect on the movie experience, just like reading a harry potter book had no effect on my enjoyment of the the Harry Potter movies. Plus they are very easy to avoid using common sense. People usually only spoil them in those specific movie threads. Nobody is in a Mickey C rate this girl thread posting random captain marvel spoilers. Stop being so sensitive. A bannable offense? :mjlol: bunch of babies.

I feel like a Month is a better amount of time before spoilers are allowed.

Official Threads are for brehs to get an impression of the movie's quality. Also for people that have seen it to give their feelings about the overall experience from seeing the movie.

A spoiler thread can always be created for discussion detail plot points.

3 days but IMO there is aren't any great reasons to reading a movie thread after its released if you haven't seen it.

Let's take a Marvel flick for instance, if I wanted to know how many after credit scenes there are I would post that question and not go back in the thread until I get a quotation notification, read that reply and dip right back out. Once you start scrolling through there's a high probability you'll read a spoiler and that's your own fault. Personally, Coli consensus doesn't influence whether I'll see a flick in theatres or not.

For a lot of people it does though. Therein lies the dilemma.

Just browsing this sub-forum you will see dozens of threads asking "what TV show should I watch?", "what horror movies are good?", "what do you recommend on Netflix?"....hell, there's a few on the first page.

So people do go into movie threads to get a feel for whether or not they should see them.

Thought this was standard practice. :manny:

Spoil tagging for 1-3 days doesn't require an IT cert.

And here I thought WOAT takes were limited to the Coliseum. :mjlol:

I like what was done with US. Just have two separate threads. One for reviews and another for discussion. Or hell it'd be even better if there was a review tab where users can post spoiler free reviews and then the regular posting section is to get in depth and really discuss the movie. I know there used to be something like that for music releases of where it had a review section but can't see to find it anymore.

It's impossible for written text to ruin a movie experience. Two entirely different mediums. I've read alot of comics so i know pretty much whats going to happen in alot of these marvel movies but it hasn't changed my enjoyment at all. If fact i would say it has enhanced it. builds up my anticipation. You guys would be better off banning the trailers from being posted, that does more to spoil a movie than any amount of words typed in a forum can.

I don't personally care too much about spoilers but I disagree with this pretty much completely.

If you're watching "Game Of Thrones" and read a character dies....that shyt ruins the episode for a lot of people. Because half of the excitement is the unpredictability.

The same goes for....let's say "Avengers: Endgame". Marvel has released virtually no info because they want people to be surprised. Regardless of whether or not you care, that's part of the package. It goes hand-in-hand with the experience. So if someone came in the thread posting detailed spoilers....again, they fukked up the intended experience. You could say :manny: "eh, it doesn't hurt the movie for me"....ok cool but not everyone feels the same. Just like you feel strongly about your stance....those people feel equally strong about theirs.

And as far as trailers there actually has been complaints. Some people don't want to know anything about a movie before it comes out. But trailers are part of the official promo and easily avoided....you gotta click play after all....whereas someone can start a post completely benign and then drop a spoiler in before you realize you've read it.

The fact that they continue to make movies about Jesus despite that fact that everyone knows he dies by crucifixion in the end completely invalidates this Game of Thrones argument. People are just being overly sensitive. If people want to avoid spoilers that badly they take upon themselves to do so.
Thecoli is where people come to talk about shyt and you guys want to prevent us from doing that. If there is something they don't want to talk about all it takes is a small measure of common sense to avoid the subject. If you don't want spoilers just stay out of the film room until you saw the movie. Problem solved. Don't make it our jobs to cater to them. Plus its much less work for you as a mod.
