As an avid movie theater goer, it pains me to see the state of the industry.

I mean we’re still technically in a pandemic so I get it if folks don’t wanna risk their health. I still go to the theaters regardless to enjoy myself though.
This is bs breh. There's sold out concerts/festivals and sporting events all over. Maybe people are sick of how garbage blockbusters have become

This.

It shouldn't cost the average family of four almost $80 to $100 to see a movie together, ESPECIALLY when most movies lately have made for trash theater experiences.

Just about ere'thing I've seen during the pandemic has been UNWORTHY of having been viewed at the theater.
Say it again.

Can count on one hand the number of movies I've seen worth a damn this year :scust:

They haven't been making good movies that's why

cgi has only gotten more noticeable because they don't blend it with practical effects anymore

no more big name movie stars, all the movie stars that sold movies are old none of these new actors are box office stars they can sell movie just because they are the star of it

comic book movies fukked up the industry now everybody wants to emulate marvel mcu,

star wars was hot trash and still broke box office records, theater is fine, it's the movie industry that has been struggling

I'm on the same boat

Been going to flicks as far back as I can remember but the experience just isn't the same anymore

On top of that it's very overpriced and just not worth the hassle

Two tickets plus food will run you about $60 and up

Would rather just be at home watching the same movie on my 70 inch with surround sound

On top of that I don't have to worry people on their phones or teens talking and laughing during the flick

Yeah I love the theatre experience but the last movie I saw in theaters was Tenet. It’s hard to go when there’s shyt like HBOmax releases and same day releases. Honestly the theatre experience will never be the same. That sense of security isn’t there for people in mass to go see a huge movie.

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
DO people realize..... You don't have to buy food from the concession stands when you go to the movies :dahell:

I barely did....

So saying that's why you don't like going to theaters is :mjpls:

And it's not like people go every day or every week for that matter.

People spend more taking the family out to eat at restaurants... and never complain.

We're talking about two totally different experiences. Concerts/festivals are social and interactive experiences. You can add sporting events to that as well. Movies are more insular. Even though you're with a bunch of people, what's the number one rule? Be quiet. I've been to concerts where me and my crew made friends and hung out after. That's because we can talk and make noise. At the movies, once it's over, that's it. The movies aren't like sports, where like with football, many people have fun tailgating. Even when the CEO of AMC said, "Well people have kitchens but they still go out to eat," I don't think that's an equal comparison. That is still a interactive thing. I went to dinner with some coworkers a few weeks back, and we talked the whole entire time. You're not doing that at the movies.

I think you're missing my point. I'm talking from a "people are afraid to go to the movies because of covid" standpoint. Clubs, bars, restaurants, sporting events, festivals etc have all been packed. a lot of people are not afraid or are vaccinated etc. also re: your other point. Movies are a communal experience. Many people like to go with others. even if we do sit in silence.
