They don't.

Do you even understand how folks, especially younger generations, consume hoops now?

Regardless of that, this is the viewership/following in this country -
30% of Americans are fans of the NBA, up from 27% in 2019, a new report finds.

Between 2016 and 2023, the number of basketball participants in the U.S. increased by 33 percent (U.S. Americans who played basketball 2023 | Statista)
The percentage of people who're fans of the NBA has increased; the percentage of people playing hoops has increased.

And that's before we take into account the rest of the world where the viewership/following has increased tenfold. Countries that previously didn't have access to games, now do. Countries that previously had no resources to play hoops (gateway to following the NBA), now do. The game has been ever-expanding since 2012.

Cats in here complaining about how the game isn't what it was in the 80s or 90s, as if it means anything. Young kids, teenagers and young adults have absolutely no concept of those eras, so it's not like they can reminisce about the good ole times when there wasn't 3-pt shooting.

Now let's compare social media view count for NBA clips on all the platforms and channels and see if any other sport compares

They already got the new TV deal, so they don't care anyway.

The problem is nobody gives a fukk about the analytics.. People just wanna be entertained.. the product the NBA is putting out is stagnant.. Fans don't give a fukk about that statistical mumbo jumbo you're speaking on.. Fans just see a bunch of jump shots and now the ratings are dropping. Fans have spoken.. They're tired of watching every play ending with a jumpshot

YOU SLOW nikka?

WE'RE SAYING THE SAME THING

8-week intense fitness boot camp and training camp in August and September, NBA Cup in October, Fall break in November, and then start a shortened season on Christmas Day. I think this would reduce star injuries we’re seeing and help boost ratings.

Players and owners aren't giving up that money for less games tho so less games aren't happening.

Do think it would cut down on this load mgmt nonsense but oh well. Wish we could move the three point arch back and kill the corner/sideline 3 tho

it’s short sighted tho. Next TV deal may not be as lucrative. There are no viewership trends that point to a world where people are sitting down and watching a full 82 game season.

Load mgmt ain’t going nowhere as long as the regular season is irrelevant… which is fixed with less games.

Make NBA league pass cheaper or put it on Netflix and watch viewership skyrocket

but overall, the focus on paint points or threes analytics has ruined basketball aesthetically.
I like guys like Melo who have a early 2000s play style but still modern.
