As a whole, the NBA has lost around 45% of its viewership since 2012.

You do realize the league Bron & Kobe inherited shares more similarities to the 90s than what’s being played now right? :why:
Ain’t it crazy how Lebron adjusted? Remember back when they said he wasn’t a jump shooter. Now he be shooting the 3 like curry the last few years:wow:

What you wanna be basketball elitists don’t realize is that the “casual” fan is what makes the product viable, and once you start losing the casual fan, the first thing you need to look at is the product. I do t think viewership is down over 40 percent, but there has been a significant decline over the last 3 years. Do illegal streams play a role? Yup. Do illegal streams hurt the NFL or college football? Nope.

Football is king in the U.S. :manny:

ESPN can put Titans vs. Jaguars on MNF and 10 million+ people will happily watch a Will Levis vs Mac Jones duel off GP

The NBA and NFL have never been on an equal playing field and the NBA has always had to work harder to draw in audiences in the states

BECAUSE FOOTBALL TEAMS PLAY ONCE A WEEK.

IF 12 NFL TEAMS PLAYED EVERY NIGHT
OF THE WEEK THE NUMBERS WOULDNT
BE THE SAME

The younger generation.

Yes, they stream other sporting events.

This thread has already been debunked. More folks follow/watch the NBA than ever before. This thread is no more than misinformation.

So why isn’t the NFL and college football affected? The younger generation is a broad term. Do you mean 12 to 22? The majority of that demo still lives with their parents or don’t pay bills and have disposable income. Most people who watch live sports that are 35 and up pay for cable or some streaming service to do so.

exactly.

I know it's not realistic to get rid of the 3 point line, so move the arch back and kill the shorter distance sideline/corner three.

Analytics change COMPLETELY like you said.

shyt, test it out in the G-League.

If you eliminate the corner three you'd effectively squeeze the halfcourt of spacing. You'd create deserts at those spots where shooters used to shoot corner threes because there would be little to no reason for scorers to stand there. Efficient shot selection would plummet since offenses would sprint more to score in transition.

3 pt line or not, analytics isn’t going anywhere. Choosing the route that maximizes efficiency over what’s most aesthetically pleasing isn’t going anywhere

It is what it is :manny:

And that's an every sport problem, not just basketball. It's just more pronounced in sports that are more fluid like basketball.
