:snoop::snoop::snoop:

this is stupid.

they influenced the way rappers spit their bars. you act like they just influenced rappers to get in the booth & sing without rapping.

:comeon:

ol d b's album sold off of name value & his fanbase.

there was no big anticipation for an ol d b album at the end of 1999.

as far as wutang having alot of white fans. its not rockets science. they appeal to the rippity-rapping white dudes that try way too hard to be hip-hop. a wutang show post-97 is no different than a sage francis show.

btw, im not saying that all of their white fans are like this. so dont be offended if this doesnt apply to you.

nah, i dont have a backstory on the mtv show. i thought that chit was odd just like you. but i got down with wutang so i wasnt complaining......but i wont forget. besides, the backstory to that show is probably nothing more than new york priveledge.

:ooh:

youre right though. bone is from cleveland, and their mentor and record label died years ago, still kicking it, still active

bone and nate dogg the reason rap got rythym

East 1999 has some corny beats. I've provided youtube links as examples earlier in the thread.

thats your opinion, but E-99 is regarded as one of the best midwestern rap albums of all time and one of the top 10 greatest albums of all time by alot of sites and people, cant say that about ob4cl2 but your wu biased anyway.

I definitely agree that gave them a huge edge in terms of appeal back in the 90s

but are we really gonna sit here and act like Bone has an inherent advantage to getting mainstream acceptance over Wu in 2013? I just dont see it.

in todays day and age, Wu has the appeal because this generation of cac grew up on the back pack shiit..u can see it with the Roots getting props all of a sudden, jimmy fallon, rza being in movies and shiit...wu def has the mainstream appeal today

and yet bone will still go toe to toe with them on sales. hence voiding all this nonsense about how bone aint relevant or their career is done

again i got love for wu. i got cuban linx in my car, nothing like bumping incarcerated scarfaces during through a winter storm on my way to work. i just feel bone is CRIMINALLY un appreciated

:whoa:

I never said BONE is irrelevant or done. I'm a fan of both groups.

And I think I need to differentiate something. Wu has more pop culture appeal because they have more hard core fans. That's why you have Hollywood asking RZA to score movies, or Ghost to star in "Ironman", or Chapelle doing Wu skits, etc.

BONE has more pop music appeal.

And that's not a diss. To put it into perspective BONE was doing songs with Gwen Stefani in 2009:

Around the time Raekwon dropped this:

It is what it is. BONE has album cuts with Fleetwood Mac, Gwen Stefani, Will.I.Am and Phil Collins. They tried to cross over, so it's not like I'm criticizing them. It's just that Wu never went that route, so sales is kinda a moot point.

You got it chief. That's all Bone right there - they invented that. Singing on an interlude...or even on a full song...and they're not even singers like that...they're rappers.

Problem is - it's insignificant when it comes to hip-hop.

You should be arguing that Bone's delivery was unlike anything in rap - that's significant.

How is it insignificant when this style is being copied to this day? Bone's impact is still being felt today, deal with it :niglet:

"Best Midwestern album" reads like some special Olympics shyt to me.

Fantastic Vol. 2 >

your one of the most east coast biased cats in here though, you do know your hip hop but sometimes u say some outlandish shyt like your previous post.

ob4cl2 isnt nowhere close to being comparable to E-99 its not even close and u know that :comeon:

Everyday Together (You & Me) - Bone Thugs - N - Harmony Ft. Gwen Stefani - YouTube

HOLD UP HOLD UP!!!! you wanna talk 2009? lets talk about raekwon doing a joint with justin bieber and sounding desperate for an eminem collabo. and the bieber chit really hits low because this is the same dude that was always poking his chest out talking bout "real hip-hop this. real hip-hop that."

now as for the rest of this, come one man. dude just explained it to you. wutang doesnt have more pop culture appeal because they have more hardcore fans. they have more appeal because they branded themselves greatly with a machine behind them and like dude said, the people that are currently providing exposure for them are white people that grew up on that backpack chit. the jimmy fallons, the dude that put ghostface in ironman, dave chappelle is a well-known backpacker. you think chappelle is going to do skits with compton's most wanted? hell no, but mos def is always in the cut.

doing a song with phil collins isnt neccessarily a crossover attempt. hes not really a white artist all like that. hes moreso a color-less artist. at least the stuff that i know him and genesis for. gwen stefani tries to straddle the colorless line. she at least had a couple colorless hits. will-i-am was their labelmate on ruthless back in the day. you may be right about fleetwood mac. i wouldnt know. i dont know chit about them.

Kanye orchestrated that Bieber shyt. And Rae was ALWAYS the most wanna be sellout dude in Wu. He's still a beast, never compromises HIS raps and Cuban Linx 2 is way stronger than the best Bone shyt.

We can line lyrics up. Line beats up etc.

And correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't that song with Bieber over a Wu classic?

Yeah. Slore out the pop stars al day. Make them come to you.
