The first rappers to popularize it.. Wu didnt popularize any style musically that is still felt today.. Bone were the pioneers of this shyt.. and yes BIG attempted to bite with player hater and notorious thugs but we see how that worked out :birdman:

The pioneers when it comes to rappers who sing for an entire song. I wonder how they came up with something so revolutionary?

How is hip hop shytty now days?

Too much EDM, too many rappers who don't give a shyt about lyrics. Too much singing. Hip hop has lost it's authenticity.

This is in the mainstream of course. There's still a lot of great shyt - you just gotta search for it. And there are exceptions (Kendrick, Nas).

Bone needs to make a comeback. The game needs them. They were FAR to talented to simply disapear like they did. They're music is world wide. Yes they made better music than Wu, but Wu is FAR more influential due to their marketing gimmick and cross over appeal. I love em both, but Bone was FAR more talented in my opinion. Bone could literally release a hit album TODAY if they chose. Wu not so much.

What exactly is the Wu's cross over appeal? What about their music or image is cross over?

Yourr a clown. What about Bone attracts a pop audience in 2013?

Was Bone ever the darling of the new york based media the way Wu was/is? Did bone get covers of the Rolling Stone? Are hipster douche bag caks on Bones nuts or Wu?

Does your retarded azz even know why this topic came up in the first place you inbred ape? Its because some donkey said This thread is longer than Bones career, well the response to that is Bone will outsell Wu today so what that make Wu?

my man to you they had all these multissyllables but to us sh1t was just fast rapping...the thing that made them dope was the harmonizing and production but they were sorta a novelty after awhile...the sh1t just wore off...so now no one was trying to emulate wu back then? and :heh: you thinking drake & future aint no damn r&b singers throwing raps in their song...son boyz to men and lots of r&b groups harmonize sh1t is not new...let me guess tevin campbell and rkelly bit off bones harmonizing too? :leostare:

lol @ "TO US they were just fast rapping".

dudes not even hiding their ignorance & bias anymore.

and yes, i do hear bone thugs influence in r.kelly's music actually.

:ohhh: like most acts that go platnium dont have a whitefanbase? that means your popping i know you aint that slow huh

no. youre the slow one.

obviously you dont get the gist of what im saying here, even tho it should already be understood, yet i still took the time to spell it out for you.:smh:

Cuban Linx 2 really is the best album, though. We could analyze themes, beats, brotherhood, lyrics.

"movin' that flake"

Clipse became irrelevant once Rae popped back up. i'm not even hometeamin'. clipse is outta here behind Rae's second act. a budden or two got smacked, sure....but that actual rap killed clipse off.

lol.

the "back by popular demand" joint alone was more relevant than raekwon's whole album.

i'm in LA

you moved there when you were like 30.

What about Wu is "crossover appeal" though? Do you guys even listen to any new Wu stuff? They're anything but.

Just because er..."cacs" or hipsters love their music, doesn't make their music crossover in the same way Wiz or Florida's music have crossover appeal. It's no different than white people loving gangsta rap that came out in the 90s. Wu is hardcore rap, there's nothing pop about them at all.

lol @ people claiming that they dont see the bone thug influence in ludacris.

this is the most well-known of numerous examples:

chit, ciara wouldnt have been singing like this on the track if it wasnt for bone neither.

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1RKBYsg0MLY"]Ciara ft Ludacris - Oh - YouTube[/ame]

I remember the MTV special! You know the back story behind it? I remember thinking it was odd at the time, but the Wu were huge in NY in 1993 and MTV was based in NY.

Both groups were well promoted.

bone's promotion was never all that. dont compare their promotion to the wu. wutang got way more promo.

and yes, im glad that you remember that. yet, people are in here talking like wutang was some underground underdogs and bone was supposedly some commercial @$$ group.

And Dirty's second album was big too.

that album was considered wack.

lol I didn't read through all the fukkery that I am sure went on in this thread, but it was a debate in the late 90's with a couple of friends in school.

I was more of a Wu-Tang fan because of my NY roots, but a couple of heads were on that Bone Thugs vibe especially when Art of War dropped with Thug Luv on it. Wu Tang Forever was a much better album that year tho...no debate there.

Overall I don't think Wu-Tang's discography can be fukked with especially considering the fact that its such a huge fukking group and you can really only look at 2 associated MC's and call them WACK. Wish Bone was a huge weak link IMO...I skipped most of his verses.
