I'm sorry but after watching England's midfield display yesterday, I had to go watch some Xaviesta and Edgar Davids game highlights to rinse what I saw. :scust:

England cms got worked by the same midfield that was worked by Spain, who still start slow ass Busquit in 2021. Busquit is a liability for Barca right now.

Southgate has done a phenomenal job w/ the national team, but he is going to have a lot of sleepless nights about his approach to the 2nd half yesterday. You don't play scared at home. If the match was in Rome, maybe. But not at home. That was some turtle shyt he's going to regret for the rest of his life.

I agree breh, southgate didn't trust rashford or sancho all tourney. Yet in the most important game with a few minutes left he subs them in and lets them take penalties :dahell:

It's like in basketball being the 12th man and you haven't played all series, game 7 final play and coach subs you in and the play being drawn is for you to shoot a 3 pointer :dahell:

I agree he’s been excellent. He’s changed the mentality, togetherness and spirit massively. You only need to hear the stories of how players before didnt even speak to team mates from other teams. He has done little touches like building greater pride in playing for England and what not

having said that, even though they won’t, England need to take the foundations he’s laid and build on that with a better manager tactic wise who will be more attacking to get the best use out of all the talent. Move Southgate into a more senior role in the FA to oversee how England team is run and leave the manager stuff to someone else

Y'all being so English about this. Giving dude flowers for *checks notes* getting teammates to talk to each other?

He played the scariest tournament run we've ever seen with such a deep roster, and he did it at HOME. :mjlol:

He needs to be fired yesterday.

This dude is genuinely bad at his job. He's gonna be manager for the WC, too, since the response to his fukk ups are so mild.

Rashford shoots for Yanited along with Bruno...so he deff was gonna shoot. Plus he’s scored penalties in big games before (ie. CL Rd of 16 i think against PSG like 2-3 years ago). He should’ve just been subbed on earlier to get his legs warmed up rather than 2 mins before. Him and Sancho were cold.

But if southgate knew he was headin to penalties he shouldn’t have subbed off hendo and walker.

Penalty takers imo should’ve been:

1. Walker/Shaw
2. Rashford
3. Hendo
4. Sterling
5. Kane
6. Walker/Shaw
7. .......

you think he wanted to sub them off? they already decided previously that they wanted no parts of a peno shootout so he's gonna take them out. it might not be as clear with walker but that's definitely the case for hendo. he came on as a sub and then got subbed off right before the shootout.

I agree he should be sacked and if you see my posts in furious at how he set england up particularly yesterday. But with any team you need to build a TEAM first. You can have the best coaches and it doesn’t mean shyt if you don’t build a team mentality. Capello case in point. They went for a tactical guy and it flopped horribly. We need a better coach but they’ll benefit from what Southgate did the past few years

That i will definitely give him praise for.

He wanted to model the german framework and as soon as he was appointed he actually sanctioned a study into it so he could apply and establish the same foundations for england.

So he deff laid the groundwork for future success and i do think england will eventually be successful in the future.

Just not with him as manager. :bryan:
