That's not true. There's such thing as permanent alimony, at least in Florida. Usually reserved for long-term marriages and is in effect for the life of the spouse who is receiving the alimony.

It's highly unlikely that a family court judge will give custody to the father...but for argument sake yea.i could never be a dead beat mom

i guess i will be in the minority. i don't agree with alimony IF the spouse is able-bodied and can work (man or woman); however, i do believe in child-support. after our marriage is done i don't wanna have nothing to do with my ex unless it revolves around the kids, and he will pay child support either willing or court appointed

No, alimony would also end if the recipient got re-married. But most of the people getting permanent alimony are older, so they tend not to get re-married in that instance.
