Are we all here completely out of touch with who is popular and relevant?

Some things could also come down to the audience and their streaming preferences.

I like Benny and didn’t even know what he looked like until after maybe a year or so of listening to him. I don’t really watch video. Just Apple Music for the most part.

some people use YouTube as their dedicated music app.

Double : Benny is popular and relevant and so is NBA Youngboy. They're relevant and popular to two different demos though. I think most of the coli are between early 30's to 40's, most 30-40 year olds aren't looking for the next 16 year old up and coming act. I don't think it's a coli thing more so than it is just the general case

You'll find that a lot of these dudes with large Youtube views, can't make that translate into anything else.... no radio spins, features with known artists... shows... NOTHING.

What do you mean nothing lol? If they have views and streams they have something. Anybody with consistent millions of views can do shows too. Not nationwide tours, but they can get booked regionally at least and make a little chunk from streams and shows. They get features too. They don’t need radio play.

Their popularity isn’t comparable though. Benny’s most viewed song on YT has 4.6 mil and hardly any of his songs have even over 1 mil. Youngboy’s is like 132 mil.

Benny is at 1.6 mil monthly on Spotify. Youngboy is at 14.9 mil.

They can't fund the lifestyle they want to live...
