Of course.

40-year-old black American men don't listen to violent, gay, female or foreign rap music; essentially whats hot on the streets or the charts.

I was surprised to see how little streams and views Benny has. I know he isn’t mainstream. But he’s co-signed by all the legends, got features with Ross, Wayne, Drake, etc., Hitboy production, backed by Roc Nation and given exposure by Shade 45, Lebron posts vids listening to him.

He’s been my favorite rapper for the past several years and a lot my friends rock with him…though my friends are all 40ish. :flabbynsick:

I guess it is just a huge gap in age and hip-hop listening now cause the average age in the booth is :flabbynsick: and artists who nobody has heard of here do way more numbers than most of the booth’s top 5 or top 10.

most people here are but its been like that since the post kendrick/asap/krit etc era

im getting there :flabbynsick: now that im in my late 20s all my friends just like the same shyt they did earlier this decade. streaming algorithms and an occasional tweet or ig post the only thing that helps me find new shyt now. or going to shows, i'm starting to understand why everyone here is mostly just fukking with shyt that was hot when they were younger

What got me thinking the other day was I made a thread about Glokknine going to jail. A bunch of replies were your typical “who the fukk is that?” booth posts.

Now the only reason I even know who Glokknine is is because he dissed another young artist that I do listen to some (Foolio) for no reason. But I noticed on YT Glokknine has a song with 35 mil views and another with 22 mil views.

Now compare that with someone I listen to a lot and is considered a gawd on the coli, Benny the Butcher. Benny’s most popular song on YT has only 4.6 mil views.

Maybe that’s just YT though.

So I compared their spotify monthly listens. Much closer but Glokknine is at 1.8 mil monthly and Benny at 1.6.

I know Benny isn’t mainstream like that but I thought he had more listens than a fukking Glokknine.

Is the booth a :flabbynsick: bubble?
So not only are you an old Indian fakkit, you're also easily trolled

That “who” shyt is annoying especially when the artist has YouTube videos with millions and millions of views

I'm totally locked out of all the new, murderous rappers from small market cities. Equally confused by the autotune shriekers and mumblers. And totally fine with that.
Murderous rappers from small market cities. :russ:

I rock with some of that stuff from Jacksonville especially and Memphis too…and EST Gee from Kentucky.

Most people here don't force themselves to like whatever new shyt the teenagers like and found from tiktok. They discuss rap they enjoy. Sometimes it can create a perception that everybody fukks with it when the average listener never heard of them.
