Are we all here completely out of touch with who is popular and relevant?

you are in an echo chamber and yelling at yourself

one rapper is named after a knife and the other a gun

amerikkka is gun country so mystery solved.

mind you those numbers were so close in comparison all it says to me is that you can be your authentic self and still reach millions

as far as the gen gap its our fault.

no 40 yr old should be listenin to new artists who dont bring anything to the table and we are enablers to a certain degree

we slap the first repetitive wack off beat violently ptsd themed song then shame the authentic/pioneers as irrelevant

if some kid is posting and NOT checking out different kinds of artists or diggin in the proverbial crates then the cycle continues

fortunately i dont dictate my life by this forum.

i.e. one example would be plays; you only counted bennys streams from his channels; what about others who uploaded?

my point is shyt is bigger than being pigeonholed

the real aint goin nowhere and the coli only is legit when 40 yr olds are sharing legitimate opinions and the kids are taking heed to history.

might not happen daily but its happening and no amount of ignorance cant stop it
Breh nobody’s reading all that.

Some of y’all just want to go on soapbox rants about “the state of the culture” or act pretentious about your own taste or your era or whatever. Nobody cares.

All I’m talking about is the perception of what’s impactful, popular, song relevant or not.

I think most people generally agree that the demographic here is older and disconnected from what’s “hot” and popular. Nobody’s saying that’s a good thing or a bad thing. It just is. I myself and definitely disconnected and have been for a while.

Nah I’m good. You’re just emotional and lack comprehension.

You just came in looking for something to rant and moralize about even though it didn’t apply.

I am, and I’m fine with that.

Vast majority of the “new, hot shyt” I check out leaves me :scust: and not in a ‘96 M.O.P. way

I am completely out of touch and I am proud of that.

Popular Hip Hop has been garbage for nigh on 2 decades now

I love it when people listen to the wack shyt they caped for a couple years later like

"Such and such sounds like crap now."

Congratulations. It was ALWAYS wack you were just trying to fit in by bumping it. You fooled yourself into liking it.

You say this but the rappers who sell the most are the ones who came out 10+ years ago for a reason. Drake Kendrick Lamar J Cole Jay-Z Eminem, even Durk started bubbling around 2012 nearly 10 years ago, only new rappers who are moving units are Lil Baby and Moneybagg Yo, and there’s hardly a discussion to be had about these guys albums on a bigger level because the lyrics and sounds simply aren’t complexed enough.

you know, i used to hate on Lil Baby. Hated everything about him, how he rap, deliver, flow, his rhymes. But as the months progressed, this mf grew on me. To the point i actually enjoy listening to his sh*t. To the point that i think this mf actually better than TI if we're talking about Atlanta rappers past and present. :patrice:

i started thinking about their catalogs and what not, Lil Baby's might actually age better than TIP's :hubie:
