Blonde is more culturally significant than CO. It changed the landscape of pop music for male artist. Blonde is still #41 on the billboard 200, think about that shyt for a second. It’s the longest reigning independent album on the billboard #200. Ever. GKMC has been on the charts for 12 years straight, you can’t ignore these things
The top 3 could have been in any order tbh.
Y’all should be happy black artist are being recognized for their greatness, instead y’all in here arguing over semantics.
if i'm using the rationale you laid out to defend blonde, then the #1 album on this list is thriller, and it's not remotely close. sales wise, cultural impact, the actual quality of the music, how it shaped everything that came after... it is
the bar that every other album is measured against for a reason.
purple rain won an academy award, won a grammy award, has been entered into the library of congress and made prince a megastar... on top of moving 25M units. at one point abbey road sat on the billboard 200 for 329 weeks and sold nearly 30M units.
so nah, i dont personally think miseducation is easily interchangeable with all three of those records. and i dont think it belongs ahead of songs in the key of life either. i'm good with it in the top 10 though.
and if sales/impact/relevance is part of the criteria... how are whitney houston and mariah carey both omitted from the list? and lol at the criteria they provided to justify their choices when they left rhythm nation off the list entirely.
just because i critique the list doesn't mean i dont understand the significance behind their choices. if they got it wrong they got it wrong, doesn't mean that i'm hating.
