AOC was right. Amazon, Twitter, and Facebook are moving to NYC anyways WITHOUT tax incentive

that 25k jobs was bullshyt and not guaranteed, plus it wouldnt have been 25k new yorkers, it wouldve been tech jerk offs that they brought in that would price everyone out of that hood and who knows maybe all of queens eventually, look at seattle.
What makes you think the 1500 will be any different.

The 1500 is an actual projection, not a negotiating tactic. They have no reason to lie now (almost the opposite cause they certainly want to downplay the L)
That wasn't the question. The question was will the 1500 workers be native new yorkers or a mixture of local and imported talent.

That was his criticism of the 25k, vs 1.5k numbers.

I suspect both will be a mixture of local and transplants and both are projections over x amount of years.

it's also more likely than not Amazon will use this addition of workers in the future as an example of the positive impact of Amazon jobs should they seek a large scale expansion going forward which they will again ask for tax breaks.

And in no way is this an L for Amazon. They had every major hub in the country courting them to open HQ 2 which they ended up in a great location and received the breaks they were seeking.

Hudson Yards is pretty fukking dope, I was there when it opened this spring. What a world to live in, with all the misery and wealth running together, a new gilded era, and a new industrial revolution at the same time.

But I'm saying the 25k is made up.

The 25k was a 20+ years down the road number specifically created in order to chase tax breaks. The 1.5k number doesn't have any such ulterior motive. And like I proved already you can't trust these companies with their made-up projections when they have other motives for claiming big job opportunities.

Lol she’s right about the Manhattan vs queens thing. Nikkas are acting like we can’t take the 7,E or F trains to manhattan. Hell nikkas can take the Q60 bus or the Q64 express if you got extra cash.
she throwing Queens under bus in the process, I guess that isn't her district. but they weren't going to get those jobs anyway

I think they're both made up projections.
I think the 1500 is exponentially more likely to be hit than the 25k.
I do believe they'll hit close to that number barring a road block.
I also dont think it's worth it for cities to subsidize these corporations. Particularly at the level Amazon was asking for.

I'm just pointing out that the 1500 jobs isn't the same as the offer that didn't end up in NYC.

AOC is clout chasing, but she should. And I wish all cities cut out this practice of subsidizing these companies. Especially when they're worth nearly a trillion dollars.

Is go into more detail, but I don't need to out too much personal info.

Her district is part of Bronx and part of Queens. But it ain't like people who work in Manhattan don't live all over. Like she said they were going to pay ZERO tax for forever while being a drain on city services.

AOC first responsibility is to her constituents, let Manhattan worry about their city services, Lord knows they make enough money. Paying for commute is part of the cost of living, If her constitutes have access to closer employment opportunities, they don't have to spend money going into the city. paying to go work in someone else's neighborhood is part of the servitude and a drain on city services anyway.
