AOC was right. Amazon, Twitter, and Facebook are moving to NYC anyways WITHOUT tax incentive

Wouldn't you rather live and work in queens and not be bothered with Manhattan, obviously you can't afford to live in Manhattan

Why would you assume that? I have no problem working in the city.

Manhattan is one if the most desirable places to live in the world, makes sense I couldn't afford to live there.

We already have enough evidence of what happens when Amazon opens up their HQ in a city.
Seattle is a booming prosperous tech hub. :ehh:

Rising home prices, Amazon writing their own tax laws, homelessness and inequality.

This is a strange argument to make is the countries largest city that is already home to the businesses you're rallying against.

It's also an absurd argument to make in a thread where you're cheering Amazon coming to NY anyway. :rudy:

It's obvious that the whole HQ search was a charade done to extort as much money from cities as possible. They already picked NY as their location but had all these cities bending over backwards for the HQ even though they knew they were never going to fukking Ohio. How come they didn't open their HQ2 in Columbus or Indianapolis after they dropped out of Queens? :jbhmm:

It's the same model businesses and pro sports teams have been using for decades. As long as cities and states continue to subsidize business to provide jobs I see no reason to feign outrage when it's Amazon in a major city vs 3M in a small town. :bryan:

I'm generally opposed to these types of breaks, but I find it hilarious y'all are celebrating 6 percent of the original proposal as some time of massive win for workers and a smack down for Amazon who got exactly what they wanted elsewhere.

But new yorkers have been over valuing their worth for a while.:ld:

AOC first responsibility is to her constituents, let Manhattan worry about their city services, Lord knows they make enough money. Paying for commute is part of the cost of living, If her constitutes have access to closer employment opportunities, they don't have to spend money going into the city. paying to go work in someone else's neighborhood is part of the servitude and a drain on city services anyway.

Queens' city services are Manhattan's city services, just like they're both the same as Brooklyn, The Bronx and Staten Island's city services. Aside from some aspects of the local legal system, NYC has a single, centralized city government. There are no separate city services for Manhattan vs. Queens.

Commuting into Manhattan is just a fact of life for a 1/5 of NYC's workforce and a good number of people in the NY metro area.

I see you don't know any of the facts and furthermore you have no interest in learning any facts about the situation.

I'm not gonna waste my time with your bad faith arguments :camby:
