Anyone's employer started lay-offs already?

What field is this?

I work for an HVAC Contractor and also get contract jobs from the various utility companies.

Good opportunity for self-employment, but the equipment, training/certifications, insurance, etc., adds-up.

Interesting..:ehh:

I had a home energy assessment done by Mass Save during the summer. My auditor recommended that I switch over from oil to heat pump.

We actually hiring like a mawfukka where I am. Also, WFH demands has limited our talent pool. Still get interest but folks ghost when there is no WFH leeway. Departments are bare as a result.

People begging for the WFH stuff...gonna be cut loose. Middle management gonna be cut loose.

Everyone client facing gonna be straight.

Happens every recession...
Very true though WFH means nothing when the company is very profitable and have few internal ticketing issues. I will say, many companies are now mandating hybrid (at least 2x a day)-->even though EVERYONE except executives are making ZOOM calls!! makes 0 sense. none

Why what is happening which will cause redundancies?
Low cash; no funding; startup life

I've went through layoffs twice I work in oil & gas. My first time being laid off was right before Thanksgiving 2016. They gave me a nice sevarnce package so I just chilled the whole holiday season and right after New Years I got back on the hunt and had an offer 3 days later. It was a blessing because some of my old coworkers were without work for 6 months or longer.

The second time I was laid off was actually earlier this year in January. I got an even better severance package so I chilled, did a lil traveling, had an insane workout schedule, of course spunt time with my kids traveled with them and etc. I got back on the job hunt in June & got the offer for my current job in July. I'm no longer in oil and gas even though the pay is good, job security is a real concern unfortunately. I currently work in an industry thats practically layoff proof and the pay for my role is comparable to what I got in oil and gas plus I still get to work from home and have time to pursue other interests.
Respect for bouncing back twice. What industry/field do you work in?
I work remotely and my company is begging me to help find staff and offering $4K bonus for each referral they hire
Well ... spill the beans

Not yet, they've required a certain segment of the workforce (basically if you were originally hired to work in the office, you gotta go back) to go back to office. Alot of those folks have left the company in the past 1-2 months.

Current job needs to hire about 5 more people. Old job just hired 30....and they probably need at least 20 more.
