Read my second post. I got your point. It's not black and white. There is nothing you can do to completely stop men from their sexuality. It's about curbing temptation.

Men arent savage animals, unable to control their desires. People are gonna notice bodies regardless. It's just being mindful of both sides which is what she said in her tweets.

Perverts are tempted regardless. There's a difference between noticing bodies and acting inappropriately upon desire of said body.

That's what I'm saying. I've been groped without my permission, fully clothed. Men have assaulted and raped women when they were fully clothed. All this talk of "temptation" as if certain curves can't be noticed even when a girl/woman is dressed modestly. The curves don't magically disappear, b. People just need to keep themselves in check and if they can't then they clearly have issues.

I still want to know what boys should wear to curb temptation from predators. Or is it different for them?:francis:

A pervert is a pervert is a GOTDAMN pervert despite the clothing you're sporting.

Come on you guys. Talking about young kids "dressing like hoes". It's that kind of oversexed language and thought processes that make people reject what Erykah is saying. As if the only thing separating a 15 year old girl in school from being a run of the mill "hoe" is her clothes. It's like no one even remembers that they are kids.

Oh - so you're more upset with words that describe what a situation is than the situations themselves?

You've never seen someone who was dressed like a hoe?

No one's saying that there's anything wrong with NOT sexualizing little girls. I'm saying PERVS will sexualize them REGARDLESS. You totally missed the point I was making. And the school skirts that were being discussed weren't event that short, so adding a couple of inches to them won't make a difference in a perv's mind. They will be perverted, no matter what the girls wear. THAT is all I'm saying. Stop being obtuse.

First calm down.

Second you are missing the point. It's more about protecting and parenting than excusing perves. The point was dress code and having them covered up. What is with the segment of feminist getting mad at anyone says anything about modesty? They are grown women. Was this really the time to throw in the agenda? Did she say anything about excusing predators or this would prevent them from preying on victims? No she said if she had a school there would be a dress code for less distractions and protection. As it should be. Not grown women can't dress the way they want or dressing like you are asking for it. Or a woman should be able to dress like a slut and no still means no. Not if you dress like a nun a predator will leave you alone. She was taking about children. Period.

I think Erykah is coming from the perspective of being a mother, she don't want her daughter being gawked at. Of course there are predators and perverts but she's just thinking from the perspective of protection, and that's just a parental instinct.

I've seen women get catcalled and harassed wearing baggy sweats. Sometimes it doesn't matter what she wears.

There is a key difference between men and women when acting upon an attraction. I don't see women en masse grabbing, groping, and harassing men in the streets when they find them attractive. Now men on the other hand...:usure:

Exercise some self-control, bytch.

And oh -- I'm the idiot? I'm not the one who struggles to keep myself in check sexually.

WHERE -- AND I HAVE TO KEEP ASKING THIS QUESTION TO YOU OBTUSE DINGBATS -- DID I ADVOCATE FOR GIRLS TO DRESS IN RISQUE CLOTHING? Most of you guys' responses are VERY telling. I've never seen such a large group of obtuse individuals in my fukking life, b.

umm yes women DO rape men, its just laughed at lets not rewrite history and make this a ''men are the devil'' spin..

if you wanna do that, then blame your biological make up for giving you hormones, did i say anything about it being right.. i said not being able to control yourself is wrong but lets not try and say its okay for women to dress provocatively and think hormones wont kick in.. THATS HUMAN NATURE, not man made, not technology made, its WHAT WE WERE BORN WITH

and like i said before.. lets take away the police and our locks and bolts since weve been taught stealing and killing is wrong since you wanna go there and see hat kind of world we live in

No, I'm more upset at society for aggressively sexualizing kids. Whenever I see someone "dressed like a hoe", it's normally at night, in the part of town with the bars and clubs.

It does matter what they wear. I know people want to pretend "feminists" want little kids to walk around naked for womens rights, but what the problem really is with, is how few degrees of separation between being a child and being a slut there are for prepubescent and pubescent girls, hinging on what clothes they wear. It's like a thin piece of paper. Why? Why are people so ready to say a young child is "dressing like a slut" because they wear a short skirt or a v neck t shirt? I thought people instincts were supposed to make them want to protect children, not get all sexually angry, using all types of foul language and directing all that negative energy towards them. It doesn't feel right.

I think girls shouldnt dress in a sexual manner obviously.

Why shouldn't 9 year old girls be allowed to wear mininskits, booty shorts, or low cut tops :comeon:

You're slut shaming breh, let them baby thots #FreeTheNipple

That last statement is true but most males aren't pervs. A woman is gonna attract more attention the less she wears even from other females. Look at all the threads made on women on this site like the smash and pass threads. How many of those threads don't have women dressed with little on?

So what do you think when you see someone "dressed like a hoe"...and she's 15, and walking into Algebra class?
Well first, I wouldn't because a 15 year old walking to algebra class is in a middle or high school, somewhere that I as an adult am not and have no reason to be

and I would think "I wonder if that girl has problems and if her parents know she's dressing like that". That's it.

See.. now you are not getting my point.

Perverts will be perverts. There's nothing you can do about that. They have to control themselves.
Men are visual creatures. They notice skin. It's in their nature. Women also notice, but are not sexually attracted unless they are not hetero.

I said it's not black and white because it isn't skin = rape and clothes = respect. It's staying covered to prevent (the degree of) arousal or attention. Act like there's no difference between a club outfit and a church one. One is for the purpose of attracting or looking attractive. We as adults know what is "sexy" or appropriate. A young girl can outgrow her clothes and her hemline might be higher one month than the previous and she will not notice it, but the males will.

People are taking shyt to the extreme but that's not the message Badu was talking about. It's not about rape. It's about arousal and attention.

Just understanding the way that men are wired and respecting their nature. Same way boys have to wear a shirt in the class. They're not walking topless. It's not saying girls should wear a burqa. Just cover your cleavage, midriff and thighs to a certain point. Keep distractions at a minimum. School is for learning/
