They said he was en Egyptian nepo baby, a make work tool for some rich connected sand cac
That's why he had his feet all up on the desk, all smug on the Bloomberg terminal.
I'm assuming he told daddy and Abu made the call.
Mmhmm

Adler should’ve put that resource to work when he had the chance; now Eric is the hero. Smdh

Basically a male Yasmin. That makes more sense. The call was to figure out what the connection was that got him the job. Looks like Eric snaked Adler just cause? Or he believed the red head shorty that was opposing him the whole meeting?

Adler told him in a previous scene. He said his family is high up in the Egyptian government, and runs a sovereign wealth fund, probably some shyt like IMDB fund from Malyasia, run by Jho Low. Which is a fascinating story, involving Pras, Tim Leisnner, Kimora Lee Simmones ex husband at Goldman.

The show highlighted this by showing his watch, his LV shopping bags lol and putting on some aftershave on the office. And Rishi said you come in here in your Versace like a faq or something like that - great foreshadowing for his character.

Adler didn't have his A game anymore. That was clear. They kept saying Mitsubishi is that a real Japanese Bank? like SoftBank?

and damn, Rishi just had no game left. Mumbling and rambling with a broken arm and a rash that was all over his neck lol

Very telling that Yasmin couldn't even pick up that he was simply being cordial and nice to a regular person. He wasn't flirting. he wasn't trying to fukk her, he was just being normal. There's this very interesting dynamic with Robert that you rarely see with men in film or television anymore. He is treated almost exclusively as a sex object. His feelings don't matter to most of the women who pursue him. The later scene where Yasmin cut her hand and he rushed in heroically...she grabbed his dikk like it was no big deal. If you flipped the scenario that could be sexual assault or harassment. Just a fascinating dynamic and I think Rob finally recognizes it. I'd hate for him to move to California, which I assume would end his tenure on the show...but man does he need to escape this shyt lol.

Another really good ep. Not sure what's next for Harper. I figured she'd be thrown under the bus for how reckless she is. Will Henry's uncle back her financially/legally or is this the end. I can't call it.

The Margin Call-esque scenes with Eric and Bill were great. Only thing I agree with Bill on was that the ESG chick had to go. Letting her win that shyt ideologically was a no-go in my mind, but clearly Bill was in no mental state to carry it out. Did Eric fukk him? Yea. But I'm not sure there was any other way to save the company. Maybe Eric could have ran the Middle East play by Bill. After all, he put that guy on Eric's desk. I knew that shyt was going somewhere lol. But let's say Eric proposed that clearly superior plan to Bill...would he have greenlit it? I don't think so, because his mind was fukked.

great points about Yasmin, I caught the class parts, when she refused to eat the sausage. and the whole "but that's like a basic ammenity right". but that sneering tone and delivery, about taking the 'impressionable young girl', including the finger point, I know someone EXACTLY like that, "we are not going to be doing.....any bed hopping tonight" (moves finger like you are talking to a kid) That part got to me.

and Rob's like sitting there enjoying just the beauty and romance and closeness, he's not even thinking like that. He's like hurt, like why would you act like that with your homie? whose been nothing but 100% with you the whole time.

There's something about when grown women talk about sex like kids that irritates me, men have to use like violent terms, and women tend to use very childish ones, which probably says something. I swear Yas was going to say "geting frisky" like this girl used to tell me. Like we are in the 1950's

Because women are assumed to be wh0res if we are direct about sex.

Sad thing for her is that her reputation precedes her.
And she’s used to men wanting nothing but sex from her.
I would assume Rob thinks sex is a possibility too given her behavior

For sure. That's the most twisted part about it all. used the exact phrase "where is your desire in all this" the other night...she had nothing to say, like she didn't understand the concept of the question.

they were really sexually intimate on one level, but they never had straight up sex. Did they ever even kiss? They slept in bed together, they shared secrets. Emotionally support. so it's of course something that passes your mind, every time I am alone with someone who thinks I am attractive, I THINK about it, but that's not the only reason or motive. We can sleep in the same bed, and it's cool, and I have.

In Yasmin's case part of it is what she confessed about not loving anyone, and the flip side of that is that she's clearly very broken due to the emotional/mental/possibly physical abuse from her father. You know how there are people who were abused who then cope by being hyper sexual? That's her. She never really sits with her emotions, as Rob said. She just moves from one stimulant to the next. Even with her in the bath tub and the way she immediately grabbed for the pills.

She's also not used to anyone refusing sex because of how attractive and seductive she is. Rob has to be the most interesting man she's met (on the show) because he constantly does not give her what she wants. He also managed to do what she can't: sit with his thoughts, grapple with his failures and improve as a person.

She weaponizes sex and intimacy as a guard against vulnerability/feeling vulnerable. Even their sexual relationship, it's still super intimate on some level, because the other person really sees you. Sees the you that no one else does. Even the dude Maxim, they had like really casual, boring sex. They knew nothing about the other they didn't already.

and for some, esp. a Yas, it's really hard being that vulnerable.

Saw an opportunity to jump up on the totem pole.

CEO started the meeting asking who the fukk he was, now he sits at the head of the table. Latching himself to Bill meant being connected to someone that was butting heads with the CEO, someone that has 4-5 months to live.

Just listened to a podcast with the guy that plays Eric and he said that he saw it as another way Eric takes out his frustrations with Harper on someone else. Mentioned firing Kenny because he asked him about coming into the office smelling like liquor as another example.

The Harper/DVD sex scenes were really hot. There's a car one too. The way they are written. The words, the acting. 'Industry' maybe some of the best I have seen besides weird Euro Claire Denis indie movie shyt. American movies tend to shoot sex in a very specific way, taking all the tension out. Directors like Adrian Lyne did it well too. and I don't really like sex scenes if they are just there for the nudity and the cheap joke.

one of my boys said something like"too much sex....this is just softcore porn" but knowing him....he's a super straightforward kind of traditional guy, like high school athlete down the middle

These are intense and not really played for laughs, including like the cum and the weirdness of sex in a non ironic way. Most sex scenes are usually for the nudity and to serve a kind of narrative of reassurance. These feel more challenging.
Damn Claire Denis name drop :wow: . She’s one of my favorite directors of all time. I love how silent her movies can be in certain scenes, allowing the landscape tell some of the story

Maybe reading the acting wrong, but Adler looks like he smiles/smirks as the door closes like

I get it

like if anyone got him, he was glad it was Eric.
Uuuh… if anything, I think the possible smirk meant “Wow, that MF really got me”

Not “well, if it was gonna happen, glad it was him”. It being Eric makes in 10x worse lol

Could've been. Eric said the exact same line Adler said to him in the episode when he revealed his tumor to Eric.

As much as they are friends, Adler did sideline him. Eric doesn't seem like the type to forget what others have done to him. He's been questioned and side-eyed through the season. If Eric didn't do what he did, Adler may have cut him loose at any point in the future. So once he spotted the error in the bathroom scene, along with knowledge of his illness, he was ready to strike.

Also notice how Eric seemingly made his way up the boardroom table to the head of it by the end of the episode.
