I was actually intrigued by the concept. Tis a shame.

The way character development is used in this show is slower than I would like, there were no huge WTF scenes in the first 2 episodes. That guy died, but they didn't play it in a way that created a sustained conflict for the rest of the season, it's aftermath is more or less done after episode 2.I had a feeling this show was gon be short lived.
Didn't seem to take off.
I haven't watched ep 3 yet but the charisma and characters aren't there. Seem like a half assed version of every other HBO show of this nature but with more uncircumcised penises throughout and they really making that a point
Show lacks true flavor and the direction really isn't there. Like whats the end game here? Just to make it in the company? Then what?
Probably not considering it's a joint production between HBO and the BBC.The idea is good but there is something Off with the show. It feels a little cheap? maybe on the production side. the first 2 episodes didn't flow well, I feel like they should have built the characters up more.

I mean, it's not cancelled, is it? They're just realeasing the rest of the season Netflix style...'Industry' to Release Final Five Episodes Early on HBO Max - Variety

They fukked up by letting Lena Dunham direct the first episode of an 8 episode season 1.
Episode 2 had much more charm than episode 1 and the characters at least look like they're breathing if not feel like real people with goals and troubled backgrounds.

Probably right on both fronts. HBO would have bodied this alone, or netflix. BBC brought it down and tamed it maybe. And Lena Dunham of all people is a bad choice I agree
I'm not so sure about that. I watch Industry on BBC Two. There is no programming even remotely close to the nudity/sex that's displayed on Industry, so I don't think the BBC put handcuffs on HBO.
Considering it's London centric and there are like 2 American actors, perhaps HBO pulls out but it gets a renewal from the BBC on like a 5-6 episode order.
I hope it doesn't die, but then, Utopia is in my top 10 show all time and it didn't get extended for a third season.Yeah true. I feel like it has potential for more because it's an insight into an industry from young newcomers and there isn't anything like it.
Maybe British viewers are higher than US and it's not something that will work for HBO?
