And am I the only one who is glad Will Smith didn't take the role?
Jamie was perfect.

DJANGO UNCHAINED - MAIN THEME - Django - YouTube
I swear that song is on repeat in my head since I watched the OG version back in November.
I just wish django and hilde were played by different actors.
I literally have watchd django four times and Jamie and Kerry really take away from this movie.
Those castings are so posse with it.
Jamie is not cut out for action movies.
Like Marin wayans is not cut out for action roles, at all.
The Jamie bullwhip scene,...
Is where it got ruined from a main character perspective for me.
I like the movie, a whole lot though.
Yet and still,.....
Jamie and Kerry just make it,....so, blazing saddles-ish at times, I can not stand their castings.

I just saw it and I don't see what the fuss is about
Definitely wasn't as raw as roots....
I just saw it and I don't see what the fuss is about
Definitely wasn't as raw as roots....
EXACTLY
man i just saw that shyt and im mad as fukk
this is what all the hype was bout
this use of "******" was getting people uncomfortable
i wanna smack every nikka that hyped this movie up, talmbout the shyt was "intense"
shyt aint even deserve an award imo it was average to me
I thought Jamie did a pretty good job....don't see where the hate for him is coming from. Only weak point was he sounded kinda corny when spitting his one liners. But the rest of the time he was good esp when he was playing the slaver role. Kerry Washington I agree was a weak point....her crying and screaming seemed too forced and that's basically all she did the whole movie.
it is not exactly hate.
It is just Jamie does not really do action well.
He can speak well.
When it comes to the dialogue.
It is just when you combine the movement needed for action.
With the role of a speaker together.
When it comes to Jamie.
Imo, it falls way off.
He is a greater dramatic actor.
Just like Marlon wayans is an incredible dramatic actor.
Yet, when it comes to action.
Neither, are believeable to me as action guys.
The reason I was able and I am still able to suspend belief is.
Quentin Tarantino has typically cast unlikely guys in roles.
So, it works with the mythos of what Tarantino does.
If this was not a Tarantino movie with tarantino's attention to detail and top shelf dialogue.
I would not be able to suspend belief at all.
Real talk,...
The Tarantino factor helps both Kerry and Jamie.
Both of whom I went into this hoping they could take their acting in action roles to another level.
Yet, it was more Tarantino,...
Than them actually ramping up.
Tarantino shot Kerry exactly how it was needed.
To hide her shortcomings as an actress.
Like literally she is the worst Tarantino casting of a blackwoman actress ever.
I never bought into her distressed damsel role past the hotbox scene.
When it comes to Tarantino,...
That dude is gold.
As he can hide and make you appreciate anything or anybody.
So, even still I love this movie.
Despite its blaxploitation, b-movie-esque performances by Jamie and Kerry.
Which I feel Tarantino always flirts with anyway.
As a thumb in the eye of Hollywood.
So I was in on that work, and I enjoyed being apart of another of tarantino's purposeful b movie, a grade cinema work jobs.
So, it is not as bad as it reads in print.
When I criticize, Jaime and Kerry.
As I feel purposefully, Tarantino makes castings like this.
To challenge the status quo and general perception.
as a component of all his projects, product-wise.
With that I say Tarantino, still wins with the casting of Jamie and Kerry.
