Real shyt. SMH @ me seeing Django put his glasses on at the end and looking at the house and thinking "Damn, that would make a great avi"

As for the movie itself, I think it could be Tarantino's best ever. He did a great job of handling the seriousness of slavery and all that came with it. He used humor in the right places and in the right ways too.

And fukk Spike's opinion of a movie he's never seen. I'm absolutely interested in Aaron Mcgruder's opinion of the movie though.

As long as people don't forget what happen to our ancestors during slavery and do not take it lightly or jokingly or a mockery, I could care less what one should think about this film.

1. The use of the word "******". I read before watching that the word was used a lot in the movie. It was and that's not what was offensive/too much. What was offensive was the word being used as bait for laughs. For example, QT having one character say something to the effect of "No, not Hercules, ******cles!"...:merchant:.

2. The graphic, amistad-like scenes. If you're going to put graphic, Amistad-like imagery in your movie, the principal message of your movie should be about the sobering, brutal nature of slavery. There are a few moments where it seems like QT's fishing for laughs when the reality of the situation just isn't funny.

Example: White guy on horseback chasing 3 black dudes off into the field for comedic relief in a scene. :beli:

3. Sam Jackson's character...possibly the GOAT film c00n and voice for some of the most questionable lines. I don't know if it's worse if QT wrote them or Sam Jackson improvised them.

On another level, why is Sam Jackson the last "villain" to die in the movie? QT spends more time on his sendoff than Candie's.

4. The entire dinner scene @ Candie land...:wow:. An entire book could be written deconstructing Candie's speech.

Racial critiques aside, the movie was just poorly paced and fell off in the last half. Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, and Inglorious Basterds are still my top 3 QT flicks.

It sounds like you walked into the theater looking to be offended and got what you paid for.

Oh, one more thing. The music was generally on point, except for the use of that Rick Ross song and another song I can't think of. But when that John Legend song hits, goddamn was that shyt over-the-top.

What I thought that was the best song. That shyt was banging in the theatre...I never heard the song before watching the movie and it was a pleasant surprise, me and my brother were both like:

Breh me and my bros were :deadmanny: during that whole scene. The movie aint even a comedy yet it was funnier than alot of comedies. That scene and Samuel Jackson's c00nery were :laff:...This movie is AMAZING

The Rape scene wasn't a rumor. It was in the original Script and it was taken out cause the studio thought it would be controversial and they were right. Read the script online, it's there. As far as not seeing the movie cause of Spike. Nobody should let someone else dictate what they should and shouldn't watch. Spike never said it was a "Bad" movie that had terrible actors. He just said he felt Slavery wasn't a shoot em up bang, bang western. My boy who I trust saw it and he gave me a mixed review, said it was little too cartoony when it was suppose to be serious it would then turn to humor and be like "Blazing Saddles". He said the performances were good and that QT did OD on the N-word. He said there was good things and bad things. Again I will hold my judgement until I see it this weekend (For Free, not paying).
I thought the same during the movie.
That would be my ONLY con about the movie is that it never felt "serious" to me but its a Quentin Tarantino flick, kinda to be expected

I thought the plot was serious... the think the best aspect of the movie was that it didn't take itself too seriously. There were a lot of tense sense moments that I though came off well. I think QT approached it well. You can't use nikka in a movie that many times and expect the movie to be serious all the way through. :beli:

Yea you right about the ****** part, whenever the word was said ppl just laughed.

I really didnt know much about the movie going into it to be honest (never really saw a commercial cause I dont watch tv and Im not a huge movie buff, in fact this the first movie Ive seen in theatres since watching the Hangover 2 :russ:) which is why I assumed it would be alot more "serious" then I expected but that takes nothing away from the movie to me, it was a GREAT movie and I'll def be watching it again.

Wasn't it Stephen who said that? If you got a problem with that, then you must not anything that comes out of Uncle Ruckus's mouth.

2. The graphic, amistad-like scenes. If you're going to put graphic, Amistad-like imagery in your movie, the principal message of your movie should be about the sobering, brutal nature of slavery. If that's the scene I remember when they get to Candieland, I think people were laughing at what Stephen or Candie was saying, not at the 3 slaves running back into the field. I have to watch the movie again.

3. Sam Jackson's character...possibly the GOAT film c00n and voice for some of the most questionable lines. I don't know if it's worse if QT wrote them or Sam Jackson improvised them.

LOTS of spoilers in the following paragraph. I highly recommend those who haven't seen this movie to just skip it.

It was Stephen who made the biggest fuss about Django being treated like a white man on the arrival to Candieland. It was Stephen who discovered the plot to capture Brumhilda and inform Candie that he was being tricked. And it was Stephen who essentially captured Django and almost sent him back into slavery. So yeah, he's gets to be the last villain (Ain't no "" about it nikka, he was evil.) to die. He's also the last to die because he's the first (and only) negro Django had to kill. Plus everyone knew there was gonna be more fukkery with Stephen half-pleading and half-cussing Django out. shyt was hilarious.

4. The entire dinner scene @ Candie land...:wow:. An entire book could be written deconstructing Candie's speech.

If a whole book could be written surely you can sum up what was wrong with the speech in 3 sentences. And even if it is wrong, you gotta remember that it's 1860 and slavemasters probably had a deluded view on the cranial structure of the typical black man.
