Bump.....

Time to revisit this as we're tearing down these monuments.

Need to replace them with something.:mjlit:

In November 1864, lawmakers gathered at the Maryland State House to ratify a new constitution prohibiting slavery. On Monday, more than 150 years after this momentous event, lawmakers convened at the Annapolis state capitol to unveil bronze statues honoring abolitionists Harriet Tubman and Frederick Douglass, both of whom were born into slavery in Maryland.

Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey, left, and Montgomery Mayor Steven Reed, right, unveil the Rosa Parks statue in downtown Montgomery

MONTGOMERY, Alabama -- A new statue of civil rights pioneer Rosa Parks was dedicated in Alabama's capital city on Sunday, the 64th anniversary of her historic refusal to give up her seat on a public bus to a white man.

Montgomery Mayor Steven Reed and Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey pulled back a cloth to unveil the statue before a crowd of about 400 spectators.

The statues of Tubman and Douglas are very tasteful.

I would like to see statues of them set on pedestals, or larger even, as the point is that these people were larger than life and so you would want to make sure you evoke that.

Passerbys should be gazing up at and not down into them.

Good point about placement and perspective.
