I know 2 dudes breh, he's my homeboy cousin. Rap with Midi East out of DC. Dude is cool and all, but he just aint gon make it. I feel sorry for the dude. Studio beating him across the head for studio time. I met him about 6 years ago and he was going hardcore. We went to a couple of his shows way back. The way the crowd was looking at him like he was retarded, I felt sorry for him. Dude damn near 40 now, never had close to a hit. Never says anything memorable or gangsta. He's cool tho, so no one tells him to get it up. What super nice guy rapper that has made it in rap, but isn't super nice on the mic?

The other is my homeboy from Va. He's a player like, but he be rapper on some soft Lupe, Q-tip super possitive vibe, but w/o the skills. I make beats, but gritty south beat, so we don't click. He be wanting me to go to his shows  I can't follow someone I don't believe in.

When is it time to hang it up? I'd be embarrassed at 30 telling someone I'm a aspiring rapper.

all I know is, nobody with a college degree to wage job can criticize shyt that i do.
As I already excelled in salary, grade, relevance, and industrial impact before they were of age to get a degree.
without a degree,...
plus, never faced no type of corporate opposition, or stres on my level professionally.
So, they are not actualized professionally.
Plus, needed a receipt from school or a degree.
to not get anywhere remotely close to me professionally/grade
So , nobody can say shyt to me about what i am doing.

If you not a top earner, at the top of a world wide revolutionizing industry without a degree.
Before you were twenty-one...
You can't say shyt to me, about rapping.
As i already did two things better than you, and you paid and finished school.
While succeeding at none.
Comparatively, to me on a professional level.
Let alone , similar timeline form.

I think its sad when you're over 25 and still talking about rapping. Because 90% of those cats don't even have a secure plan for the future. No trade. No college. No army. Not even a cdl. You can get them b*tches for nothin :heh: I mean dog....Rick Ross and 2 Chains made it late but, what happens if you don't? You wasted away your entire 20s not building toward anything real and now you're 30 something without anything to show for it. Its sad. And I know multiple nikkas on this path.

I heard that if you don't 2 assets to your name by the time you 30, you slacking off. What is bad about these old ass rappers is they don't even rap for the love of the artform, they rap cause it gets them hoes and fame. Tryna be the next 2 Chainz or Maino without the charisma. :heh:

This is what happens when we pigeonhole ourselves between sports and entertainment.

Too many brothas and sisters chasing pipe dreams with unrealistic expectations and a very small window of opportunity, when they should be chasing a degree and a career.

Even I had to give up my dreams of being in the music game for a career and solid money. It sucks, but the writing was on the wall. Being in NYC makes me realize that there are way too many people doing the same thing and not everyone can "blow up" or make it.

Do it because you love it. Music is just a hobby for me now.

:banderas:

Too many black folks think that we gotta stagnate in just entertainment and keep acting young well into their 40s. That shyt is disturbing when we see grown ass men still tryna become the next Lil Wayne and dressing like kids. Maturity is a massive problem.
