Yo, I believe its important to do what you love and follow your dreams but it all depends on why you want it and how much are you willing to sacrifice.

It's bad when half the dudes trying to blow sound like cover rappers. Do they legit think nikkas be like: "Ah man! I want to listen to Lil Wayne some more but someone else who is not him but sounds like him, looks like him, TALKS like him and does everything Lil Wayne does but on a sub par, knock off level! Give me that imitation Weezy anyday!! fukk the real Weezy F Baby!":banderas: Don't get me started on these dime a dozen Wiz Fakelifa weed rappers.

They failed the first rule first and foremost. BE YOURSELF.
Originals are ALWAYS worth more than the copies and when you try to imitate another artist to blow, you're doomed to fail because its not authentic.

How much are you willing to sacrifice?
How far are you going to step out of your comfort zone?
Are you willing to MASTER your craft?
Do you hustle hard?
I heard a story about Kanye spending several hours just trying to perfect this simple few seconds drum loop on a beat. Are you willing to go that far for artistic perfection? Do you chase perfection that hard?

Drake's go to producer 40 was in the booth producing for some cats one day and they all fell asleep. When they woke up the next morning they noticed was that 40 WAS STILL PRODUCING when all them nikkas woke up the next morning and 40 was acting like it was not a biggie. This nikka was up the whole night like it wasn't shyt to him. Its also how he got the name 40 because he is jewish and he seems to work 40 days and 40 nights straight. Are you willing to go THAT FAR?

Do half of these cats even have a DEMOGRAPHIC? They can't play towards everyone. Are they targeting urban professionals? Goons in the cut? High school students? College kids? Hipsters? Who are you MARKETING yourself to? You think a 35 year old, college educated, professional lawyer/business manager/etc with wife and kids wants to hear "EAT YO GURL'S p*ssy OUT FO SUPPER AND BUSTIN' ON THESE bytch NIKKAS!!!"

Find your audience!!!

I can't tell nikkas what to do with their life but they have to STUDY THE GAME, work hard and BE ORIGINAL. People can tell quality when they hear it. If you're as good as you say and you truly do work as hard as you claim, you can find a niche. Step outside your comfort zone, blow people's socks off when they only give you 15 seconds to prove yourself and BE REAL.

Kid Cudi is real and does himself.
J. Cole is real and does himself.
Kendrick Lamar is real and does himself.
Eminem is real and does himself.
Drake is real and does himself.(Even if it is simping :manny: )
Macklemore is real and does himself.
Kanye is real and does himself.
T.I. is real and does himself.
A$AP Rocky is real and does himself.
Common is real and does himself.
Jay Z is real and does himself.
Nikki Minaj is real and does herself.
Miguel is real and does himself. (Yeah I know he isn't a rapper but he is a musician)
Tyler the Creator is real and does himself.

The thing you know about these artist is that they ALL HAVE THEIR OWN UNIQUE SOUND, VOICE, AUDIENCE, GOALS, ETC. Some are catered to the goons, some to the hipsters and white people, some to the entrepreneurs, some to young females. Go to a Miguel concert and I can guarantee the people that are there are going to be different from the nikkas that are going to be at an Odd Future show moshing and shyt.

I know this shyt was long but I'm tired of these 30+ year old aspiring rappers who have NO PASSION for music outside of getting hoes, fame and being rich. They have NO business sense, they don't have any plans, they don't even have a team let alone an audience, there is nothing sonically special about them and they have absolutely no personality. Some of these nikkas do this even when they almost 40 and they have a family they abandoned and put on the backburner for their failed music career. That's a recipe for disaster. fukk outta here! I can't respect a grown ass man who does shyt like that to his family for fame.

I do it as a hobby. Which is a shame IMO. I kno I hav the skills talent charisma passion etc. I just lack the work ethic it takes to really make some bread off of it.

I kno dudes like the OP described. All the work ethic in the world and don't possess a lick of actual talent when it comes to entertaining or enlightening mfers with your craft.

I try to tell myself who am I to diss or put down a nikka who spends all his money and time on studio hrs or studio equipment. I kno dudes whom hav turned there entire living room into a studio. 4 keyboards 3 drum pads 2 laptops, mega CPU terminal 3 big ass flat screen monitors sound proof booth and ain got shyt to show for it other than a gang of high ass nikkaz, cloud of weed smoke spitting WACK shyt on the mic every nite... But hey at least they're trying which is more than I can say

I'm over 30 and I still think I can make cake if I put forth one tenth of effort than these dudes. I've spit in that atmosphere and literally see people react like "who's that guy, we want to hear more from him".... But again you have to be ALL IN not half assin the shyt like I do.
