Will it be the same way we look back at our ancestors who built the pyramids but yet refer to them as primitive, even though modern man isn't exactly sure on how those structures were erected.....???

Honestly, I think we have regressed mentally since man has been on this earth. It is hard for me to believe that we once were neanderthals and then all of a sudden out of nowhere with no real explanation, we came into consciousness...

All of a sudden we went from only understanding how to meet our basic needs, (food, shelter, reproduction), to having the ability to appreciate the beauty in a rose or sunset, being able to create works of art that others could appreciate on an artistic level....etc....

It Took MILLIONS Of Years For That To Happen, It Wasn't Just "All Of A Sudden Out Of No Where"

You Say They Couldn't Appreciate A Sunset, Some Of Them Worshiped The fukking Sun And Moon, Hows That For Appreciation LOL

You Do Know Theres Artwork In CAVES Dating Back Over 50,000 Years

Mind You WAY Before "Adam & Eve"

Of course I know all of this, but I would dare not refer to these examples as primitive.

Just because something is 1000s of years old means that its primitive...

I am guessing you believe in evolution, correct?

If so, you believe in neanderthals, and homo erectus, right?

Where was the bridge between these examples of primitive man and Sun Worshipers, etc etc.

You can't go from primitive to enlightened without some type of outside interaction guiding you.

It's akin to saying that a baby can raise itself and still become a fully functioning adult that contribute to society. Just give the baby food, clothes and shelter no guidance or instruction whatsoever and then boom, the offspring would come into full consciousness on his/her own....:mjpls:

I Think You're Confusing Me With Someone Who Think God Doesn't Exist, I DO NO Make That Claim

I Do Believe In Evolution, And IF There Is A God He Obviously Had A Hand In That Evolution

Some May Call That A Contradictory Belief, I Just Call It A "Sensible Thought"

Am I Right? I Dont Know, Am I Wrong? I Dont Know

Too Many People Are Black And White With Religion

Millions Of People, Whether Athiest Or Hardcore Religious Will Sit There And Tell You They KNOW The Truth, When In Fact They Only Know What They Personally Believe It. Which Doesnt Make It True At All.

But Me? Im Fully Aware That I Do Not Know The 100% Truth

This is exactly how one becomes a creationist.

You have to be completely ignorant of the science of anthropology

Nope. Counter fail on your end.

So how does "science" explain "primitive" man coming into consciousness?

And no, the theory of evolution does not explain it.

I asked myself this question the other day. Why are sistas usually more religious than black men?

I grew up in the black church but as i got older thongs just didnt add up. I still believe in a higher power, but i threw jesus, the bible and chuch in the bushes

My pastor explain that to me other month that women are (still) influential in the house because men were more hard-headed naturally. & when it comes to organizing, a woman can & will if you let her tear a (church) down.

In any case of (church)= group of followers of the Lord
house=physical building

Here and there :manny:

I hate when people say this :beli: Whites may have initially used christianity as a tool of manipulation against blacks but, it ended up being the first step towards liberation for slaves after we left white churches and began to establish our own. The Civil Rights movement was born out of the Black Church; it was the first place where blacks convened privately, separate from whites and began to plant seeds/ideas for what happened in the late 1800s/1900s. Now if you want to make fun of people for following a religion that their slave masters gave them, fine. Just understand, that religion also played a major part in the advancement of blacks......and your ancestors wouldn't take too kindly to it....a$$hole :beli:

Great Post right here....

The arrogant stupidity of these new nikkas scares me...

How can you call yourself pro black and yet claim that the church is holding black America back, when the civil rights movement, that was powered by the black church has resulted in the civil liberties and economic\social advancements that black people have today?

Not only that, there hasn't been a movement like it since for any endeavor and there never will be.

Since the beginning, women almost always outnumeber the men in house.

One of the things atheist women like to complain about is the verse from Timothy "a woman shouldn't be permitted to talk" but most women never really saw the meaning on why that said. It was said because women naturally like to gossip & you how that goes.

My beef with this position is the implication that civil rights movement was necessarily the result of the black church. Sure, I'll agree that many people who fought for equal rights were members of religious organizations... but the majority of African Americans are also religious. Had this not been the case, I don't think there's any reason to think progress for minorities could not have been achieved though purely secular means.

Disgusting. You'd ought to be ashamed.

Does your particular church establishment have more men than women?

You need to ask why their were very few secular blacks back then :steviej:

Even slave uprisings were religious/spiritual in nature...

If the movement was not a sparked/powered by the black church, then what was the catalyst for the civil rights movement....??

As a matter of fact, I don't attend a church regularly. But as far as my home church growing up, I could not say for sure. Why?

The same reason why there are few secular blacks now ... at least vocal secular blacks. Religion is a great clutch for the disenfranchised, impoverished and uneducated. Not to mention the social stigma with not being a member of one of the Abrahamic religions.

Sure, maybe religion was a motivator for slave uprisings ... it's very easy to motivate someone to fight another if they believe god is on their side. But suppose those slave owners never taught blacks their religion, or if slaves didn't have a religion. Does that mean slavery would still be going on today? Does that mean Nat Turner, and Frederick Douglass and all these people who fought for emancipation would have instead stayed silent? I don't know, it's hard to say. I'd like to think that even if the events were different, reason would eventually emerge, and the majority of Americans would view slavery and later Jim Crow, as the despicable institution we view it today.
