I'm on my phone but ur arguments against mpcs are lame as fukk. While its not essential learning a piece of hardware in and out can really get you the most out of your ability
Seeing as how you obviously didn't go that route you are hating based on visual aesthetics? You can get an mock fully loaded on Craigslist for less than 500. You are overdoing it with your opinion.
You understand that you can buy a MPC style controller for $50 to $100 if you REALLY want to make the beats like that right?
http://tinyurl.com/mpccontroller (for anyone who doesn't know, a "controller" is a hardware pad that looks like an MPC, but has no sounds in it.... the sounds are on the computer hard drive. Only difference with an MPC is the sounds are INSIDE the mpc, and you have to look at a tiny ass screen)
Let me just state the pros of software over hardware:
-can make beats on a computer that you might already have
-HUGE computer screen vs Small MPC / Keyboard screens
-You're already accustomed to using mouse / keyboard / windows your whole life.. Don't have to learn 1 or 2 NEW operating systems.
-Ever expanding sound library.... Download sounds, make your own sounds... Download VSTS
-I had $20,000+++ Of software..... for free
-It's IMPOSSIBLE for sampling on a keyboard / MPC to be easier than using PC.. again, due to the screen... If you use something like cool edit to chop your beats (free), you can look at the waves on computer screen
-If you want to make beats somewhere else, it's easier to take a laptop / midi controller VS packing up a HUGE triton keyboard or Clunky MPC (and risk something getting fukked up on it)
-IF YOU REALLY WANT THE FEEL OF HARDWARE, you can buy a cheap midi controller keyboard ($100, which I had), and you can buy a MPC style beat pad ($50 to $150.. which I didn't have and didn't need.. but if YOU need it... you can get it)
-All your music can be stored on a HUGE hard drive... Sound files / wave files / beats etc can get large.. not a problem on PC hard drive.. (I assume if you have an MPC / keyboard, you'll eventually have to transfer the sound files to a hard drive... why go through this hassle when with a PC they are ALREADY on a harddrive, and you can create nice visual folders to oraganize everything? How about the fact that you can back up all your beats / material AUTOMATICALLY to a cloud service if you want?... So you never have to worry about your shyt crashing and LOSING ALL YOUR HARD WORK... What happens if lights go out on your MPC and you haven't backed shyt up? you're
)
-Did I mention price? Who the fukk wants used equipment if they are being serious? Who wants 2nd level equipment? Nice keyboard new = $2,000 or $3,000... MPC = $1,000 VS Desktop from best buy = $500, Keyboard controller = $100, MPC style controller = $100 or so if you want it... So thats $4,000 vs $700
-Keyboards have built in sounds / synths... Having 10 different VSTs with different sounds is basically like having 10 different keyboards.... I'm assuming to get MORE SOUNDS on your keyboard you'll need to PAY for them? (if you can even do it)... VSTS you can get for free
-If your MPC or Keyboard breaks after the warranty (and lmao @ buying 2nd hand, you're SCREWED)... You're literally shyt out of luck.. no way around it... If something goes wrong with your PC (which, lets be real, is less likely)... You just put the harddrive in a new PC.... You're only out $500 (not to mention the 3 year warranties you can get at best buy)
Affordability, ease of use, amount of sounds, flexibility, security for your hard work..... Now you tell me ONE advantage hardware has over software.
I made beats for years homie... night and day... I know this game better than anybody... To SUGAR COAT shyt is not needed... Who's feelings am I hurting by NOT sugar coating? The people who (unfortunately) started on hardware?
I know a dude who was producing well before me, uses hardware / keyboard, makes AMAZING beats... and he would never use software in his LIFE, because he's so used to it now... nothing against him.. Basically trying to tell him to drop what he's doing and jump on software would be like telling him to learn another language.... SO I'M NOT KNOCKING ANYONE USING HARDWARE... That's your lane, and thats how YOU started...
But its an outright lie and irresponsible to those aspiring to get in to pretend like software isn't the FAR superior route in every single way possible.
