i guessing around 2000
cause spree came to da knicks in '99
by then - shyt was VERY TAME

cause, unfortunately the racist piece of shyt mayor we had fukkbio Rudy Giuliani was on his anti black/hip hop shyt and shutting down da tunnel was at the top of his to do list

still remember when the mayor whole world was in downfall - his mistress threatened him & he got caught cheating, his wife immediately left him then got diagnosed with cancer literally all within days
FLEX ripped his ass for like a week straight on hot 9

Believe it or not Gulliani was a saving grace for a lot of club owners in the city cause many city council members and Police precincts were paid off by club owners to stay open regardless of violations. That's why a lot of clubs with a history of violence and didn't have their rent increased were allowed to stay open. It wasn't September 11th when he made a stiffer crack down on weapons possession did a lot of clubs started to close down over violations.

"Giuliani was a saving grace for a lot of club owners... :jawalrus:
[until 9/11] when he made a stiffer crack down on weapons"

so...he wasn't a saving grace.

crazy in the sense that a lot of the artist were allowed to bring in guns by security. a lot of the club heads in the tunnel manage to get guns into the club. there was a lot of sex in the unisex bathrooms let see.. i do remember some one throwing water at noreaga on stage as he was preforming and he jump off the stage and just handle his business.
More stories breh :feedme:

Interesting! So even though she was wild in the club and you found out later she was a prostitute, you still felt some type of way? Why so?

There was another story I heard about Buju Banton doing an appearance there and lighting up a fat @ss blunt and passing it in the crowd.

These kids who grew up with this bottle service/VIP BS in NYC will never understand what Bentley's was. 99.9% of the people that came up in the spot just wanted to dance & have fun. Plenty of good looking women, very few overly aggressive knuckleheads, good music. You were bound to run into people you knew But also it was a different time, grabbing a girl's arm as she passed by wasn't really seen as disrespect, provided you didn't try to stop her again if she wanted to keep it moving. You had the big downstairs area, the upstairs area plus the reggae room :takedat:

I caught the tail end of Bentley's run during college breaks, so thankful I did. Not even sure what it was that was so special about that spot, but it just seemed like people only went there if they wanted to have fun.

No doubt....

Bentleys friday nights... had the best music...it was the more mature crowd. one thing i remember about Bentys was that precious VIP list....i remember also getting in good with a couple bouncers.....

I hit so many spots but the irony....i wasn't into clubbing like that...i had an older female cousin who used to drag me with her everywhere. This was from 1994 - 1997....She had a Dance Crew that was called The Bird Seed Crew and they had these little battles with other dance crews....

then there were the Reggae spots in Flatbush ,

ok since this is about the Tunnel....i'll speak on that...the one thing i remember about the tunnel was you better get there Early otherwise u weren't getting in...they would say they were filled to capacity and not let anyone else in
i also remember it would be first 500 ladies get in for free....I remember we were almost to the front and they shut it down on us.Tunnel was always packed...and it looked like a Tunnel....you had two sides to go from. One where people was sitting, eating, smoking f$&%. The most was the unisex bathroom. That shyt was so funny to me
Ladies you better not shyt or they would be the laugh of the night. I remember meeting LL Cool J at the Tunnel early 95.....I didn't know he was that big...i'm 5'11 and he was taller and stocky.....I remember him saying to some dudes that were rolling weed "roll 'em but don't smoke 'em":patrice: which didn't make sense to me but thats what he said..

Who takes a crap in the club?
Did they play r&b as well?
was it really separated by borough?
