Used to have major sleeping problems until I started waking up around the same time every day.
try to get into a schedule, you probably do the same shyt every day.
Chances are you work an 8 hour shift like most people do, that's half of your day right there. You take an hour to get ready in the morning, an hour to commute each day. That is already 9 hours gone.
Break off the other 6 into segments if possible. Eating dinner is probably something that takes you about an hour. Gym, Time with GF/Wife/Kids, TV/Coli, Side Hustle?
I don't have ENOUGH time during a whole date...I am usually exhausted because I try to fit as much as possible into my 17 hours. My girl said the other day "I have no idea how you have so much energy", its not really about so much energy...its simply due to the fact that I hate to waste time so that when it IS time to crash...man I am OUT. I lay there for almost 7 hours straight at times.
Brehs I can't sleep for shyt!
My mind is always racing like I need to be doing something.
I guess it's because there's so much I want to do right now in my life I feel like if I'm sleeping I'm losing
Any tips
Someone told me drink tea. Doesn't that have caffeine in it tho
That's because the systems they train in don't include meditation.I dunno man. I workout HARD. 5-6 days a week, aerobic and anaerobic. You may be right, but my biggest thing is submission grappling/Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, which is a lot like mental chess. There's so much thinking involved, that a lot of times I think my insomnia might not be related t working out too close to bedtime, but moreso the fact that I can't stop thinking about moves, techniques, transitions, etc. It's scary how obsessive many people get over grappling. I've read lots of articles on people that can't sleep that do combat sports just because they're thinking about that shyt all the time.

Only a meathead would study a martial art without taking 15-20 minutes a day to sit in silence with their eyes closed and not think about anything. You're shortening your lifespan doing otherwise. And yes it's hard at first but after about 2 weeks of doing it you'll notice it will only take 2-3 minutes to get into that state where it feels like your brain is just humming....shyt is beautiful, as soon as I get off work I'm gonna go ride my bike for lil bit and then find a tree and sit under it for 25.
But you see...this is where martial arts is in 2012. People have forgotten that it's not just a "hobby" it's a way of life. Another topic of discussion altogether but yeah.
slow your breathing to 2 complete full breaths/min and you will be asleep in under 10 minutes guaranteed
and if you slow to one complete breath/min you will probably project your consciousness out of your body in around 20 mins
Oh nah it was'nt a shot at you. I'm saying in my mind when I see the bolded ie dudes who can't sleep because they're thinking about that shyt all the time the first thing I think to myself is yo no one pulled them aside and told them you need to meditate and relax the brain otherwise the shyt is gonna start affecting you negatively? Constantly thinking about fighting and what not. You're preaching to the converted. I'm 27 been doing martial arts since I was 5. Karate, Judo, Aikido, Ninjutsu, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai, I've done a lot.
I think you missed what I was saying. It is a way of life for me, and I said that I try to meditate at least half an hour every single day. The part you bolded has nothing to do with being a meathead, or being into MMA, or anything like that.
I'm saying that I got bit by the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu bug hard. Occasionally, if I learn a new technique or if I land something new rolling in class or in a competition, I can have a tendency to think about it, mostly at night, because I'm a night owl. "How could I have adjusted that choke? Maybe I could move here, oh yea, I can't wait to try that tomorrow." etc. Those kind of thoughts.
The articles I'm talking about usually involve wrestlers, Judoka, and submission grapplers/BJJ people.
You don't have to tell me martial arts is one of the most valuable tools human beings have for self improvement.
