We did that in Elementary school, which for me was 90'-95'. It was part of the President Fitness Challenge that involved Shotput, Discus, Uneven Bars, Rings and all that stuff. We had metal gym bars outside, and three recess a day, so it wasn't that hard of a challenge if you were active.

Per the above comments, we had the 4-inch thick mats, those blue ones with not that much padding as well. We had some white kid, Cy, who was from the rich (for our town) area that always wore sweatpants and always vomiting problems because he was a fat kid for his age.

Long story short in order to get a passing grade, we needed to meet the minimum requirements, in which for the rope you just needed to go half-way. Cy was bemoaning he was too fat to climb, and he was right, but our PE teacher was telling him to at least go a quarter-way.

He ended up slamming down on his stomach, and vomiting over the gym floor.

I did that shyt and they kept score.

We had to do a peg wall climb.
Rope climb
Push ups
Shuttle run
Sit ups

This was before everyone got a participation trophy. Kids that were physically fit would be crying and shyt.

The rope climb was fun cause when we got to the top we would let go and fall in the padding, I think that’s one of the reasons they stopped it.

We climbed the rope at my elementary school. I remember our gym teacher had a piece of tape and said if we climbed past the piece of tape (about 8-10ft high), we did a good job, so I would only climb past the tape. Plus I was a little scared of heights. I would see a few other kids who would climb to the top (even some girls who took gymnastics) and the fat kids couldn’t climb at all. I think once I got to 6th grade, I said fukk it and started climbing to the top. It was easy :yeshrug:

We never did that shyt.

You had to be on point for sex ed. Ehich was when gym moved to the class room for a whole semester. Plus you had to have two full semesters or you would not graduate. Plus they wpuld demo yo ass. If you failed sex Ed.

If you did not have four years of gym. Which included teo years of sex ed. You was not graduating. Play with it if you want too

Oh and 80 percent = D grade
76 = failing grade F

Sohh play games if you want to.
Get put in a demo division like a goofie.

75-80 was a D for us. 74 and below was a F. Had Sex Ed but it wasn't a class you had to ''pass.'' I ain't one of these youngins bruh. I'm old enough to have went to school doing the tail end of corporal punishment.

The Chicago public school systems was the worst school system.
for fifty years before I even attended it.

Sohh they had their methods of getting people out the paint. Who weren't focused. Or grafting you as having poor character via their criteria.

Hence the mandatory gym for four years and sex Ed requirements.
With open campus on the same street.
that the socially destructive vice channel has made this lore about.

I did that in elementary school.

Looking back at it that was dangerous as fukk for little ass kids to be climbing that, especially if you can get up all the way to the ceiling.

I did this in high school. Back then it was easy to climb a rope. Now it's a challenge. I can still do it, but not like my high school days.
