Like the jets fans were booing and calling for mike white?
How many times has Winston started and won games while watson was available this year? :jbhmm:
Is your point that fans don’t know wtf they’re talking about? Cuz your original point was they had to let Flacco walk due to fans…what are we talking about here :jbhmm:

I still think AR should still be starting. You dont draft a project qb to give up on him THIS early without any replacement in the wing. Flacco is not a long-term solution at all.

The issue really is that it seems harder and harder to consolidate winning and developing a QB. But Colts really havent had much success lately so everyone felt like AR would be given a long leash.

Still, if you lose the locker room it could be an issue. The optics of him subbing himself out are real bad. As usual there are probably some vets or fringe guys on that team who are frustrated they arent winning or showcasing their skillset properly.

At least with Trey Lance there was a QB who has shown more on the field and who was young and cheap. Flacco is just another geriatric temporary QB who doesnt move the needle. AR needs more reps/games.
The NFL is the entertainment industry. Nobody tryna see that trash ass nikka play.

So just to clarify starting AR is doing so because you know he’s all time bad and will cause you to lose out, not for his “development”? Just to clarify right?

This ain't hard to understand.

You're done with AR correct?

Benching him means you wasted a #4 pick, you don't have your QB of the future on your roster, you're not contending, and you won't be in a position to draft the top QB's in this draft by winning more games.

You start AR to see if you can get something out of him to either salvage that wasted draft pick or get him to show enough that another is willing to trade and develop him.

What you don't do is play Flacco. What did Cleveland gain by him winning games last season? A first round exit and now they're back in the basement.

Okay, cool, they determined he's not the guy. So now what though? Win games? Okay cool. You win 9-10 games with Flacco and most likely scenario you get smoked in the first round by Buffalo. Now what? Is the goal to be respectable or to actually win something?

The Colts are a mediocre team. Staying with Flacco as your answer is basically accepting you're gonna be irrelevant and not a serious threat to anything.
So I’m supposed to start a terrible QB after I determined he’s not the guy for what?

Whats his upside though?

He's big and fast? That doesn't work for a QB in the NFL if you can't throw, cant read defenses and can't really process anything happening in real time.

I'm not saying he's never gonna be shyt in the league, but it takes a perfect situation and the right staff to develop him. He's coming in with practically no tools at the position outside of his size and speed. Thats not the Colts....shyt thats not really any team at the moment.
the bolded.

from what i've seen he has a live arm and is mobile. he has the size, etc. i'll hold off on calling him a bust until i see him with a real coaching staff. i mean he only played 13 games in college.

But what if I’ve determined he stinks. They think the pick is wasted already. The only reason to start him is cause you are tanking.

I like Steichen enough for now, but these "genius" OC head coach prospects are a dime a dozen and NFL churns through coaches. And you're right we have no reason to trust him to develop the next QB.

No. It's to continue to give him reps. We know he's not good now but also very inexperienced.

Worst case he crashes out and Indy gets a better pick. Best case Indy is competitive which is OK because at least you have something to build on.

Calling him all time bad, and saying Indy will lose out with him is an extreme take.
Saying Hes an all time bad passer right now is not an “extreme take”

Through 10 starts he's 5-5. You're acting like he's 0-10. It's not tanking by starting him but Flacco will probably win you 2-3 more games.

The point is Flacco is not the future so you need to definitively know what you have in AR.
