100% agree the both should be gone. Ballard for drafting a project this high and also hiring Steichen and Steichen should be gone because he clearly can’t do what he was brought in to do

I like Steichen enough for now, but these "genius" OC head coach prospects are a dime a dozen and NFL churns through coaches. And you're right we have no reason to trust him to develop the next QB.

So just to clarify starting AR is doing so because you know he’s all time bad and will cause you to lose out, not for his “development”? Just to clarify right?

No. It's to continue to give him reps. We know he's not good now but also very inexperienced.

Worst case he crashes out and Indy gets a better pick. Best case Indy is competitive which is OK because at least you have something to build on.

Calling him all time bad, and saying Indy will lose out with him is an extreme take.

I still think AR should still be starting. You dont draft a project qb to give up on him THIS early without any replacement in the wing. Flacco is not a long-term solution at all.

The issue really is that it seems harder and harder to consolidate winning and developing a QB. But Colts really havent had much success lately so everyone felt like AR would be given a long leash.

Still, if you lose the locker room it could be an issue. The optics of him subbing himself out are real bad. As usual there are probably some vets or fringe guys on that team who are frustrated they arent winning or showcasing their skillset properly.

At least with Trey Lance there was a QB who has shown more on the field and who was young and cheap. Flacco is just another geriatric temporary QB who doesnt move the needle. AR needs more reps/games.

This. Basically my entire point

With Flacco you know there's a ceiling and there's a floor. So he's not gonna be bad enough to get you a top pick to actually draft a QB for the future and he's not good enough to win you a SB unless you an elite roster, which the Colts are not even close to having right now.

At least with Richardson, best case scenario, he figures it out and becomes a star. Worst case scenario, he continues to suck and you bottom out and you get a chance to draft your next future QB. Middle case, he's "okay", but at least with that, you can still build on that for the future and hope he still becomes a top line QB or trade him to a team and get some draft capital that you may can package to draft your QB down the line.

I'm just struggling to see the benefit of having Flacco be QB1 for a team like the Colts. If you just want to be respectable but not a serious threat at a ring, then hey, cool I guess.

I need to know if Shane made the decision to start him as a rookie. If he did and not the GM or Irsay then he might have to go.

Between Shane/Ballard/Irsay I'd love to know who's making the calls to start or bench Richardson. We have players saying they found out about the change on social media.

This whole thing shows how much of a mess Indy is as an organization right now.

For one, we know Anthony Richardon is a dumbass when it comes to handling the media. Is he being PR trained? Is he ignoring it? How did he pass the combine interviews if he can't get through a post game presser?

We have players who are playing poorly, doing in season podcasts to gossip.
Irsay still desperately clinging on to the team.

Handled so poorly.

so in terms of games Trey Lance is also a rookie ? a rookie in his fourth nfl season ?

come on, I know what yall meant but just say hes had x amount of games. aint no second year rookie who played the year before :martin:
Well I prefer the baseball style where you a rookie till you play a full season because calling him a second year guy is weird too me considering he barely played last year

So Mahomes and Lamar were also rookies to you when they both won their first MVP?

In terms of actual play time yes. Sure you can be around the game but it’s not the same as actually playing in a game. There’s a reason Deion says you don’t get no better sitting on the bench. Really the only guys who have gotten better on the bench have had elite coaches
