Can't say that breh because in our thread discussing ASM 2 there was a nice long discussion on Andrew vs Tobey. You can't make a generality like that. Amongst my social circle, Andrew is easily favored by a country mile but online, there are those that feel differently and obviously the older series has the box office receipts and critical acclaim going for it to further that argument if someone wanted to use it.

Really? I thought most preferred Garfield, I could be wrong.

I feel you but that's why I hate having straw man arguments on the net because we are all drawing from our real life experience and we all have different experiences. There are dudes on this site who prefer Tobey and they are vehement about it and they have their reasons. But I've never met anyone who prefers him to Andrew. My best friend's wife said Tobey almost turned her off to spider-man because of all the damn crying :manny:

The only person who could save this while being true to Wright's vision is Joe Cornish, who is not only his close friend and collaborator, but also wrote the script for this movie with him. Attack the Block was a great film and shared a lot with Wright's hits.

Generally it was well-received but it's also a very bland-looking movie. Whedon's not known for being a visually competent director, he's known for his writing. Edgar Wright's Ant-Man movie would've looked great, he's a director very much concerned with how stuff looks. Now, who knows what to expect.
That's you opinion breh. You don't speak for everyone.

If the Latino Review story of what happen between Wright and Marvel Studios is true then Cornish would be a very unlikely replacement.

Wow shocked to see so many people shytting on Marvel. I mean yea some of their films have been formulaic junk but I feel perhaps there's not enough appreciation being given in this thread for the good shyt they've has done and also for comin through and crushin the buildings like they have.

When it's all said and done the Marvel franchise will be unlike anything else done before it. For all we know they could be like 20 movies deep in a few years. Who knows where they take this story beyond Avengers 3.

Maybe they drop that Civil War.
:blessed:

yep seems to be the fun/popular thing to shyt on Marvel

I honestly don't think I've gotten excited to see a superhero flick since the last Batman.

The whole genre has been stale as hell for quite some time.

Whoever likened it to fast food hit the nail on the fukkin head because every movie is the same formulaic BS and I can barely sit through half of these things anymore.

If a lot of people liked it and other studios are copying it how is it bland? Just because a minority of people didn't? We are speaking in general, and generally it was well received.

The masses are asses who get caught up in marketing & hype.

The Avengers was hyped up to be a major event, but so was Tyson vs Spinks.

Marvel set that shyt up brilliantly..The post credit scenes/6 years of build up.

Even if the movie was shyt, it was still going to hit a billion, regardless.

Spiderman 3 was the higest selling comic book flick for a minute:russ:

Luckily for Marvel, The Avengers wasn't a disaster. It was a B- flick and they ended up making 1.5 billion.

Once all the hype fades, it's still just a B- flick.Personally, I'd lower it down to a C+ because it has no replay value IMO.The last few times that I tried, it was like trying to force a kid to watch a whole episode of M.A.S.H

There's some revisionist history going on in here. People did not expect Winter Soldier to be good. When the early screenings were highly praised people went :leon: and it's because everyone was expecting the same Marvel Studios formula with corny one liners, non-threatening villains and no emotional weight to the story...

We were surprised that the Russo brothers were given so much leeway because that's not Marvel's M.O. Now, you still had a lot of the Marvel Studios staples within the film but the Russo brothers were able to get a lot of their own shyt in the movie and it made it ten times better than it would have been if it were directed by some hired gun hack.. The fight scenes especially were unlike any other Marvel film..

I don't mind Whedon, I do think he's a good writer but Avengers definitely suffered from there being no real dire situation... That piece of shyt generic alien race was terribly overmatched. Loki is cool but he stayed getting his ass whooped.

This is a big problem. We don't want assembly line bullshyt and with Wright bailing.. I mean you know they are just going to hire a hack who will do as they please :beli:

That was still there. They just didn't expect the action and practical stunts to be THAT GOOD. That was all.
