There is a large gap between being OP and getting bested by Antman, solo.

You keep saying this but you're making it up. At NO TIME do they say or indicate that Kang was not at full power once he got the suit and ship repowered. He was powerful enough to be ready to send an entire army out of the quantum realm and one shotted everyone in his path.
Until the ant family fought back. Which is bad writing plot armor.

The bolded...is not told whatsoever. The other Kangs sabotaged his ship. He says this. He got banished and his power source and suit were broken, and as such, he could not get out.
It got fixed.
He was ready to leave the moment it got fixed. Janet destroyed it, but he had his suit. And took over the entire realm and built a society.
Then he got his ship fixed and was ready to leave.
At what point was he "not at his capabilities" once he got his suit (powers and manipulation wise) and ship (travel wise).

You nailed it.Some people laughed about this but Snyder was the only dude at DC that gave Cyborg and Martian Manhunter their due.
Meanwhile Whedon et al ignored them as much as possible
And yeah a movie or series based on Kang would absolutely work.
And just as a I predicted Kang wouldn't be shown as dominant and an overwhelming threat despite the hype. Cacs just aren't going to let it happen
So you end up with an underwhelming introduction in Loki, him reduced to fighting ant-man of all people in his blockbuster movie reveal and moving forward new variants will almost certainly be written to be weak as well.
So Feige et al need to either lay down their racism and write Kang properly or bring in a cac villain like Doom that they won't have a problem with being allowed to boss up and wreck havoc.

He could have escaped though they just broke his core again

Eh, keep Snyder the fukk away from the MCU. The Russos did their thing in the last saga. Deserved the chairs for IW/Endgame after leaving a big footprint with The Winter Soldier. That being said, they haven't directed anything in this current saga. And I'm all for letting the new bloods like Destin Daniel Cretton cook with an Avengers-scale film cause I want to see something different this go-round.
The real issue is that they need to hone in on these scripts PRIOR to shooting. That's one thing Gunn preached about in his DC introduction that I appreciated, and it has been killing Marvel for quite some time now.
