Do y'all not realize shootings like this frequently occur in schools with armed guards?
A school shooter has massive advantages over an armed guard. They typically have better firepower, they know their plan, they get to shoot first, and they don't care who else gets hit. They can spray shots at a lone guard, often using an assault rifle, while the guard has to take the time to fire certain, accurate shots with a mere handgun while making sure not to hit any other children AND while dodging that assault rifle fire. Plus the guard has to be very clearly uniformed, which makes them an easy target for the shooter, but otherwise they might be mistaken for a shooter by cops when they arrive on scene.
There's been a limited number of instances where a single lone guard has stopped a shooting (far fewer than the # of times when unarmed teachers or students have stopped them). But most of the time, if there's an armed guard on site they're forced to flee until reinforcements come back and multiple cops can engage simultaneously (like this case).

School shooters are usually armed with super firepower, often wear body armor and have the element of surprise. The average security guard isn‘t Jack Bauer.
It’s just not a sustainable, effective long-term solution. It’s absurd we even have to consider this idea
