dude checked out way before the flight even pushed back, so it likely was planned. However, i doubt investigators will recover any evidence of it as i assumed he kept it to himself.

as for the timing, it was roughly 25-30 mins after departure, so at a relatively low stressful stage of flight. Take-off up until cruise and descent till landing are the most stressful stages of flight and requires all of the crew's undivided attention. So the captain was totally fine and legally allowed to leave his position for the bathroom and i'm thinking the first-officer even recommended he do so (hence the sound of the chair moving back). It was at this point that the first-officer locked the door and initiated the descent.

See that makes me wonder, if the pilot hadn't left and waited was he just going to crash into what ever he could possibly kill more people? I believed it was planned too. I was wondering was the plan for the mountains or just where ever he could. If the first officer never left would he of just waited until the next flight. Crazy and extremely selfish. Do you fly?

Just when you thought, you'd be safe in the friendly skies:mjpls:

...you gotta pray your not riding shotgun with a suicidal mental-ill demonic co-pilot:bryan:

if lubitz was hellbent on doing what he did, having the captain in the cockpit would've just made his task more difficult to do. Most likely there would've been a struggle between the two and lubitz could be stopped from achieving his goal. So essentially, by locking out the captain eliminated that risk.

As for the place of impact, i think it was just more convenient to him. He took advantage of the opportunity of being in the cockpit alone and the french alps just happened to be where they were overflying. He knew he had to act quick. He also chose to do a controlled descent rather than a spiral dive because (and i'm just speculating here):

1. Planes are smart. The way that they are designed, you cannot force it to crash because it will protect itself and fight back.
2. A descent of ~3500ft/min wouldn't alarm the cabin. No one would know what's going on because the flight would be flying normally unless someone looked out the window and saw the plane getting lower and lower. But even so, no one could've done anything. This was exactly the case as the passengers started screaming at the very end when they knew what was coming.

They flew together either that day or the night before from Dusseldorf-Barcelona. So i'm presuming the captain and first officer had no issues with each other and the CVR seemed to support this. However, sometimes captains can be bullyish towards first officers, so maybe on the return leg back to dusseldorf, the captain said something to lubitz in a manner that set him off. I mean, dude was already suffering from mental health issues so he was already on edge.

and yeah i fly. Not commercially yet, just privately.

This is scary man... Knowing that even though the plane itself is very safe, the person behind the controls can decide on your life is :merchant:.

breh post about your trip :lupe:
I haven't flown since I was a child so it felt like what was essentially my first time flying. I informed myself prior to flying about plane safety so I wasn't really scared or anything. After takeoff, it felt like a regular ole train ride and everything was just calm. My connecting flight to JPN was long as hell though! I sat window seat and looking out the window was cool since it looked so nice and by then I was just chilling. I had to take a BAD shyt though :mjlol:.

Now thinking about some :demonic: pilot or crew member on board is :lupe: worthy.

apparently he cheated on his fiancee of seven years with the woman that told the media about the "heinous act". that fiancee is also said to have dumped him the day before the flight.
