You must not listen to a whole lot of jazzy soulful r&b/hip-hop if the first thing you think is this sounds like Kendrick or TPAB. TPAB's whole sound was lifted from/influenced by Robert Glasper, Thundercat, Erykah Badu, Parliament, Sa-Ra, Mos Def, Common, etc.

Definitely vibes from The Ummah was at their peak.....

If there's s Kendrick influence it's solely due to it being an LA record that shares some of the musicians who worked on TPAB. That's about it. Obviously they have similar vocal tics too.

This album is s lot more BBQ on the beach smoking a blunt than TPAB.

kendrick completely jacked that neo soul / underground l.a. sound and now all the k dot stans are saying this sounds like tpab

see, thats one of the reasons i hate when a popular rapper borrows sounds from sub genres i fukk wit....the fans never give proper due.
