I finished the series and left all the other stuff after it alone. The only thing I did was read the short manga that focuses on the sharingan clones and Sasuke's daughter's maternity.

Am I supposed to just jump right into the Boruto anime now?

How long will it run? Is it gonna be short like the manga series or longer?

After Naruto ended there was 2 movies. Unlike the others, these 2 are cannon:
The Last: Naruto the Movie
Boruto: Naruto the Movie

You don't really have to watch the Boruto movie because the anime is covering that now. The anime starts prior to the manga so you can either watch both movies then jump into the manga chapter 1 or you can watch The Last then start the anime and you should be good to go. The early episodes of the anime are hard to watch as they feel really catered to children.
