I don't think they wrote him to be extremely likable.

It's been very obvious from the jump that he's an arrogant brat. He's a prodigy with every built-in advantage you could ask for ie pedigree, parents, money, etc. He's grown up in a time of peace where people can live normal lives instead of being near death everyday.

However, his story looks like it will go the reverse of Naruto and take a dark serious turn as he gets older. If the opening sequence is to be judged, he's going to be just as hardcore as Sasuke by his late teens. I'm looking forward to it.

I fukks with this show. Mitsuki has been a pleasant surprise, I like his fighting style. And Sarada is a pretty dope konichi. I'm not seeing Boruto's whole prodigy angle. He's smart and above average but they need to show something exceptional ninjutsu wise for me to by it.

Him learning the vanishing rasengan, wind and lightening jutsu is all I've seen but I agree.

The writer said he initially wanted to write Boruto over Naruto. I'm guessing this is his baby and Naruto was the background story. Naruto's death will signify Boruto becoming a bad ass like Sasuke.
