Just saw an ancestry dna commercial focused on African Americans. I knew we were buying those kits up because we make up the majority of dna tests on YouTube. But we must be making them some serious money if they're willing to pay for it to air during a national game.:ohhh:

nah i mean the results of the heritage part
ive been playing with the different tests but i'm not how to read the results because i keep seeing a bunch of different names and ethnicities popping up. I do keep seeing Fang tho

Different tests will show different things depending up whether you are testing for African, European or Asian results. I think the Ethiohelix and PuntDNAL K8 African only tests give pretty fair results for Africans in the disapora.

My mother took one of these test. AncestryDNA to be exact

She was 91% African with 40% coming from the Cameroon

So unless your dad is completely White you should score pretty highly on African results portion of the test too.

I gave my mother Ancestry. She scored 85% African. I scored 86% African.

post a pic no homo doubt you look like akon or michael blackson

I thought african people are the most bio diverse people on the planet. You dont have to look like Akon to look African.

This is was a serious post someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

nah you right, but not everyone should be identifying being african just cause that is the cradle of civilization. asians know their background, mexicans know their background but some of us black ppl dont.

What do you mean by this? Isn't the whole dna test for black people in the diaspora especially, an attempt to find out about their background/history ?

im saying asians can trace back 100 years and find their culture, mexicans can trace back 500 years and find their culture but when we blacks go back in time all we see is still sslavery: chitlens, european suits, jerry curls, christian bibles and jim crow laws why cant we trace back our heritage to africa? and rely on some cac corporation telling us we are from there. dont get me wrong i believe some africans did make it back on a few ships in the translatlantic skave trade but i dont believe the hype on what they tell us in his story.

if you were really african you would know trust me...slavery wasnt that long ago. africans still hol;d on to who they are and were passed that down. telling you them dna test is just for pure entertainment and maybe finding some of your relatives if they signed up for that site. think about this why cant mexicans or other latin people trace back to their actual tribe? dna test says their "native" wow thats common sense but where do they actually stem from. idk this shyt is fishy i get my people wanna know their roots but maybe go read a book not rely on some white scientist to tell us who we are

I was a bit surprised that Scandinavia had the highest percentage of European Countries. I'm not aware of there being many Scandinavian slave owners or traders.

I also upload my dna to GEDmatch, but not sure what to do there. I'm really interested on pinpointing the African tribes that I come from.
