I've never been to L.A before (I will probaly visit there soon) but I don't get how it's considered the 2nd biggest city. I heard that shyts are waaay to spread apart over there and that many parts of the city has a suburban feeling to it. I work with this one guy who's from L.A and lives in the city Santa Monica:wtf: .So basically the "city" of L.A is made up by clusters of little cities nearby blanketed under one county? Cali brehs help me understand this.:mindblown:
Los Angeles is the name of the County that Santa Monica is in. There is also the city of Los Angeles, which is also located in LA County.

Brooklyn keeps on taking it.

Yea I know the difference between county and city. But I think because LA county is used so frequently people get confused.

In general newer cities aren’t dedicated to only speaking of their city limits like older cities.

Great thread,

Suburbia is a crime against humanity; colossal waste of space, destruction of nature, inhumane condition for the human and devastation of prime farmland.

Medium density is the way forward, everything should be within 5km radius for the human. Work, School, Sports, Socializing, Parks and so on. Anything else is poor planning.

More people, less land utilization with “excess” land used for prime organic farming which nourishes the people.

You don’t need that much space. A home should only be utilized for sleep, outside of sleeping you should be outdoors, doing something productive or socializing.

Some of us like detached homes bruh, other than that you spot on. But we don't need to live on top of each other to achieve what you're saying.

I'M FINE WITH SPRAWL. I DON'T WANT TO LIVE ON TOP OF PEOPLE. ESPECIALLY SINCE I'VE GOTTEN OLDER. I NEED MORE GRASS AND TREES IN MY LIFE.

Same here..
You can always leave your quiet suburban home and drive to where it's fun and happening.
But if you reside where it's fun and happening, you can't drive to a nice quiet place. Youre stuck!

Given how the suburban sprawl started in America (American segregation, mapped at day and night) I can't blame the general reaction to it.

But, coming from a island where some roads are close to 800+ years old and space is at a premium, I'd say in this regard, you guys got it lucky.

You can have detached homes in urban areas. In fact most American cities are majority SFH

DUMBO has cobble stone and when those things aren’t kept up to date they will destroy your car.

Just fukking disgust me. fukk anybody who lives in a city or neighborhood like this. No culture, no seasoning. Everbody got the same floor plan. This is 100% why people shoot up neighborhoods and get hooked on dope and commit sucides and school shootings. Can you imagine growing up in a neighborhood where everything looks the same. Jesus christ.
And everbody doesnt want to live in some bullshyt like this.

I live in one of these fast growing exurban counties, the lack of creativity and "hurry up and build" is comical my family home is on a rural road that had a 30-35 house subdivision built 3 miles down the road and in 15 years I fully expect it to be surrounded by typical cookie cutter subdivisions as people get priced out of the closer bedroom communities.

This is why I love the Northeast specifically Philly. Philly is small compared to NYC Chicago and other big cities by size but it has character and neighborhoods.

Not even that I can live Philly area and be in farm land in 30 minutes the ocean in 45 to an hour surburbs in less than 10. A good city have to all these
What are other good cities in the northeast?
