Africa was called Ethiopia most of the time

I've heard that the term Aethiopia was used as a name for the Continent. I also heard that the name came from the Greeks.

It was. Ethiopia is what was referred to as Africa. But the classical name for Ethiopia was Abyssinia or Cush. Abyssinia/Cush is the only name I've seen in antiquity that referred to the land.

Alkebulan is some hotep non-sense...

there wouldn't have possibly been one name for the continent amongst those who understood the entire land mass as there wasn't one language on a muthafuking continent.

Alkebulan would be specific to a certain region or language. specifically Kemetic...
The coli is full of clueless Americans acting like they know more than they do. Threads like these shouldnt really surprise you at this point. They have way worse perception of the continent than cacs do at this point.

Read the posts above.

How much of Asia was colonized to the point that whole countries were erased, rearranged, and renamed? Serious question.
With the exception of Japan, most of them were colonized, changed languages, names, had maps redrawn (Pakistan and India) etc. :

Even the comparison is a fluke because many of those African countries weren't countries before unless you're looking at a place like Ghana, Ethiopia, Benin, etc that retained their name post colonization.

You can't really shame them because they have established economies, militaries, and intelligence agencies.

Yes, the black man should be ashamed that he doesnt have a respectable economy or military anywhere on the planet

We need to stop making excuses for mediocrity.

Just use the current situation as motivation to do better and chase your goals.
You're casting a wide net by saying this given in Asian the only country that would fit the standard is China, India and Japan while in America it's only the white majority US.

Most of those south American and Asian countries do not fit that bill yet you're just giving them a flat pass for it because they're not black.

Why yall be so sensitive?:gucci:
What's sensitive? nikkas make posts like if something only happened to black people them lowkey want you to feel bad about being black. Then when you ask them how it applies given it happened to everyone else they act like it didn't exist. Somehow they think talking about it in this manner is actually productive.

So really only India and Pakistan were changed. The rest had a temporary revision then went back to their original names.

They weren't countries in the European sense. But they were established areas held by kingdoms all over Africa. Plus the country of Ghana is not the Empire of Ghana. Those are two different things. In fact, IIRC, those are two different areas almost entirely. Also Benin's original name was Dahomey. Benin itself was actually another kingdom in what is now southern Nigeria.

No, Mongolia, China, Hong Kong, Philippines, etc off the top of my head. The Philippines was named after a Spaniard king and the Hong Kong mess that happened today is because the British took the island and redraw the map of China.

So what? The present day countries aren't the same size of past day empires. Ghana was taken by subsequent African empires and kingdoms that inhabited the area.

So what you're saying is inaccurate. You're literally comparing apples to oranges.

Nope. Professional ancient historian who's fluent in ancient Greek and Latin here. The Greek word for the continent as a whole was Libya. There was no Latin word for it.

Africa comes from _FR_Q_Y_, the Punic word for the lands surrounding Carthage. Punic being a Semetic language was written without vowels (so for instance Hannibal would have spelt his name as HNBL). I'm not sure what vowels were removed from FRQY - it could have been anything. Ufriqiya, Efrequya, Afriqeya, Ifriqiya. The Romans assigned a's and i's to fill in the missing vowels.

Now you can it what the white man told you to call it:mjlol:

That shyt bout to called South China in 50 years:mjlol:

Why 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation don't give a fukk about Africa? fukkin Pan Africanist

Your whole steez of a country you don't give a fukk about. Your steez all about being better than and competing with the 12% that helped you. Tough.

Them "nikkas" can barely read and barely comprehend this comment.
