You can't really shame them because they have established economies, militaries, and intelligence agencies.
Yes, the black man should be ashamed that he doesnt have a respectable economy or military anywhere on the planet
We need to stop making excuses for mediocrity.
Just use the current situation as motivation to do better and chase your goals.
That name may have been used by one out of thousands of groups/nations within Africa lol.
Do y'all think Asians & Americans also wallow in self pity because their continent and the countries in them were named by and/or after Europeans? or do some of y'all think that only black people should be held up to this standard and be shamed by this?
I've heard some fukked up racist rumors about the naming of Nigeria
Thank you. I was reading this thread mad confused.Nope. Professional ancient historian who's fluent in ancient Greek and Latin here. The Greek word for the continent as a whole was Libya. There was no Latin word for it.
Africa comes from _FR_Q_Y_, the Punic word for the lands surrounding Carthage. Punic being a Semetic language was written without vowels (so for instance Hannibal would have spelt his name as HNBL). I'm not sure what vowels were removed from FRQY - it could have been anything. Ufriqiya, Efrequya, Afriqeya, Ifriqiya. The Romans assigned a's and i's to fill in the missing vowels.
