So, there are many brehs who completely disagree with me.
I see opinions that round out to "we need to change our mindstate and not waste energy on also on dedicating resources and strength to pushing for policy change of the institutionally racist systems".

Can someone point me in the direction of historic examples that owe credit to the strategy of motivate and reform our tribe or group's behavior with speeches and words that shame them into doing better?

With the same vigor and enthusiasm that a person will party with some bytches, play a video game... or listen to a rap song that talks about drugs and violence...
You should apply that same energy to help ur community... in any way that u can.
U dnt have to knock on doors... u can volunteer...whatever u got.

Can you explain how you see articulating our thoughts the way Iverson did, stating that he sees why people are afraid of us, can potentially help the issue?
Well...actually, before that, let's really ask whether all of what he said is right. Which came first:
- A group of people being afraid of us and treating us like a group of savages who need to be domesticated.
- Or black people having a community rife with dysfunction and violence?
For me, images that we were a bunch of dangerous, devilish and savage beasts who, if given the opportunity, would kill them and each other when we have the opportunity were being concocted way before any of our communities displayed such behavior.
As a matter of fact, many laws policies kind of created the environment for that self-fulfilling prophecy to form.

It’s not that what Alan is sayin is actually factual, but it was meant to be compelling.....obviously all people don’t fear all black people, that’s ridiculous....but we should start to become conscious of how we look as a community when these atrocities occur......honestly, it isn’t even relevant how we look to others, but looking good as a community the same way we like to look good individually fresh out the barbershop/salon/mall needs to become the move....because the effects of that create a great community.......and believe it or not, when shytty cuz shot nip for the world to see it reinforces a false image of who we are as a people.....should we care, I don’t know.....but no progress can happen with lack of care or concern.....
Can we ever change a narrative about us that was placed by others to support unfair policy....likely not....but we aren’t doing it for that, we’re doing it because regarldess of financial or worldly gain, we have to start loving each other......we gotta do it simply because we want our kids to have great childhoods......Alan was simply trying to make us care

what annoys me most about people criticizing those who worry about crime in our community are those who say shyt like "well,white people kill eachother too"

Words make a difference and I don't believe using words like "black on black crime" or "we're our worst enemy" are productive.
There's better ways and choice of words to use in order to spark conversations regarding crime in black neighborhoods rather than use terms and talking points created by outside ppl meant to undermine us.

There was a young lady killed in Ohio a few weeks ago. When the rumor was that it was rednecks who killed her, the thread and topic was active. When the suspects were identified and arrested, and they were fellow Black teens......people stopped giving a fukk about the story.
