Can you explain how you see articulating our thoughts the way Iverson did, stating that he sees why people are afraid of us, can potentially help the issue?
Well...actually, before that, let's really ask whether all of what he said is right. Which came first:
- A group of people being afraid of us and treating us like a group of savages who need to be domesticated.
- Or black people having a community rife with dysfunction and violence?
For me, images that we were a bunch of dangerous, devilish and savage beasts who, if given the opportunity, would kill them and each other when we have the opportunity were being concocted way before any of our communities displayed such behavior.
As a matter of fact, many laws policies kind of created the environment for that self-fulfilling prophecy to form.
